Mine did this for the first 5,000 miles or so. Then I guess the seals "wore in" or something and haven't had an issue since. Drove through SD with 45+ MPH winds and didn't make a peep. Used to howl like crazy at anything above 10 MPH.

I noticed my 17 doing it a couple of weeks ago for the first time, 30+ mph winds doing about 70 mph in the truck. It was definitely loud and annoying.

My '13 does it, and it has had the "new" flush moulding as pictured by SR5TRDTUNDRA for as long as I've owned it. Still howls like crazy in a crosswind or quartering headwind.

Yep, unfortunately. Bought it used in Nov '15. Never encountered the noise until one windy day on my way to the coast. I've checked all sorts of things, including your original post here. So I checked, and my moulding looks just like the one you now have. Had the windshield replaced about a year ago, due to a crack, but it still does it. I'm sure they just reapplied the moulding that had been on it. I'm thinking about taking a leaf blower to it to see if I can isolate it. WTH, leaf blower is supposed to produce 100+ MPH wind, right? LOL... We'll see.

Well, I’m at the dealership after complaining about the same noise. I have a factory Toyota windshield which they said shouldn’t be the problem. They looked at the weatherstripping around the doors and after I told them that when I cracked the passenger window a smidge, the noise went away. So new weatherstripped for me. Wait and see the results and advise you all

    A bunch
The noise just showed up for me last night for the first time. Good to know that it most likely can be fixed - I'll have to check my weather stripping to see how it looks. It only happens at such high winds and certain direction that I doubt I'll fix it, but if it becomes more common now that it's started I'll start bugging the dealership for the better stripping.

I have a 2017 Tundra. The wind noise (howling) has been irritating for 1-1/2 years. Dealer notified, Toyota USA notified and Toyota Japan contacted. Was hung up on by Toyota USA. Toyota USA's only reply was 'dealer has to find and fix". Dealer heard it and advised "That's normal. They all do it. Toyotas aren't the worst". Long story short. New mirrors, antenna, windshield and have driven around with most of the front end of the truck taped up at some time or another. By accident found that if you lower the right passenger window a tiny amount, I mean as little as possible to unstress the frame, the howling stops. The window is lowered so little that there is no wind noise through the top of the window. If you hear wind, you lowered it too much. The quiet is deafening. I intend to disassemble the door and determine if a permanent stop can be installed to keep the window from closing all the way. Will advise.....

I have a '16 I bought new and it does this only when I'm doing 80 or more and there is a heavy crosswind. It has done this since new and only does it with a heavy crosswind.

Tacoma does the same thing. It's a weather stripping issue around the door seal on the tacoma

Noticed a nice draft coming across the backseat (crewmax) while the family and I were making our way across Kansas today. Seems to be entering more around the sides and not the top of the rear window. Noticed it did this on a long road trip before but chalked it up to cross winds. Just trying to determine if anyone else has experienced this or not. Now that we have a little one sitting back there, i don't like the idea of a <30 degree breeze blowing across the seat...tried the search function and this was the closest thread i could find.

I’m resurrecting this thread as I have a ‘13 Sequoia and my windshield’s moulding is doing the same exact thing. Almost everytime we drive South from Salt Lake to Vegas, we get heavy crosswinds and it sounds like whales are dying!
So I took my vehicle in today to one of the local Toyota dealerships and mentioned that I’ve read that the moulding needs to be swapped out and the advisor looked at me like I had 2 heads. They wanted to charge me $125 for a diagnosis fee and I told them I already know what the problem is, I just need the moulding swapped out. She said that they could do this but they would just need the part number to order it in. So here we are and I’m hoping that one of you might happen to have an old receipt showing what the part number is on this new “flat” moulding. Fingers crossed!
