That is to funny! On this particular item, I simply don`t have the courage to haggle...I`ll just be thrilled if they call me back and actually have it! They can have the 75 lol

On a 2021 does it require any drilling or anything intrusive like that?

Sparks “kit” is/was over priced. Buy the handle and trim piece from any Toyota parts store that will ship it to you, then go to hardware store and buy the hardware for $1.50.

    1.5” long 1/4”x20 hex bolt
    ¼” flat washer
Extruded U-Type nut ¼”x20 in size

LOL There are no parts(or kits) available anywhere at the moment. In addition, the vast majority of the cost is the handle and pillar trim.

Ok. Is my comment not valid? Will they never be back in stock? Sparks charged $225 (I can’t remember if that included shipping) when the handle and trim can be had for $160 shipped. (Or at least I paid that during Christmas sales). Both parts appear to be available at Fred Anderson Toyota, but not in sale. About $190 together. $200 gets free shipping so get an oil filter too.

Ive tried this numerous times thru Toyota, they take the order and payment info, but it just stays pending. Online it appears as if they are in stock when in fact they are not. (the handle is, not the trim) I spoke to a few dealers who showed as "in stock" and they all told me the trim was on backorder until who knows when. Im not saying some dealer, somewhere, doesn`t have one laying around, but finding that dealer will be tough.

I ordered one from Sparks in late January and had it the next week. As soon as a I ordered it I did receive a canned response stating possible backorder, but then it came in the following week.

Just installed. Works good. I used the two 8mm mounting bolts that came with the handle. A 5/16 speed nut worked well for securing the bottom of the handle.

Nice job. Now please reference the beginning of this thread if/when you fixate on the fact that the plastic does not match perfectly.

Not worried about it. It's the same as the passenger side and no reason to fixate on something that you can't do anything about.

I understand. However, this board(and most others TBH) is full of people who fixate on all kinds of shit that perplexes me.

The trim for the handle is molded to fit the handle so I can't see it happening.

My response from Sparks regarding trim and handle kit...Just as FYI

"A few weeks ago we received in a large shipment as we were able to fulfill all previous orders as well as as had a positive stock amount. We have since sold all that was in stock and this item is currently back on backorder. We ship out orders in the order orders were placed. I can not provide an ETA on when these will come in as they do not provide us with an ETA."

I ordered one from Lewis Toyota on Black Friday and it still hasn’t come yet. I’m going to check junkyards and if I find one I’m going to cancel my order.

I found one at a junkyard but they don’t allow you to pull it so I couldn’t see it until they brought it out. Is this cleanable/salvageable? If so what cleaners would be ideal to try to fix it? I tried dish soap but that didn’t work, considering using simple green.

409, simple green, and decent cleaner will help.
Let it soak on it a few minutes...

    Good luck..

I did NOT do this for aesthetics. I did this bc a friend got hit in his front driver fender kinda head on and his head hit the handle and he has some cognitive issues now. Been using these nylon handles for almost a year and they look new still.
