split 3 passenger bench seat available in all trim levels.
Up to date infotainment system(3rd Gen taco is better, but the chevy, dodge and ford systems are way nicer)
The Grab handle, WTF, why did they remove that in first place.
Folding rear seat in CM, again WTF.
Better storage in the CM rear altogether.

Yeah, and it wouldn't be much of a big deal. An extra gear or two in the transfercase with an access plate so you could attach whatever you are going to use. Not a big deal at all. The only problem is there would have to be a manual tranny option too which complicates things. After all it's a wish list.

I have DC and there is massive storage under the rear bench. What gives with the CM? That has no OEM storage? I've seen mods for CM to cut the floor and add locking compartments but having no storage for me would definately turn me off.

My 09 Taco had more storage than the CMax. I think too much was lost than gained with the larger rear cab space. Lack of storage and usable bed length. Factory under seat floor cubbies should be standard on the next C Max.

I have a 2016 Platinum CM 4x4 and below are the things I would want updated:
    • Updated drive train to use the same technology in the Tacoma, Atkinson cycle with port and direct injection. I would want to keep the 5.7, but this would increase HP and Torque while giving a competitive MPG as the compitition.
    • Storage needs to be added
      • Allow the rear seat backs to hing forward so we can access all the space behind there that is wasted
      • Add an organizer in the center console so that we can use the space. A two tier system would be great
      • I need somewhere to store change. There is honestly no logical place to store change in my truck
      • I need a place inside the cab to store my hitch, straps, bungee cords, etc.
    • Back light all of the switches. My side mirror folding option isn't lit and hard to find when parking at night.
    • Optional accessory switches built in so that when I add accessories (light bar, air pump, etc) I don't have to rig something together
    • Locking rear diff, so my tires don't spin when going up a gravel incline
    • Better traction control options, like the Tacoma, FJ, or Cruiser
    • Better interior, the design is good, but the execution is poor
      • Leather or leather look dash with stitching, the hard plastic looks cheap on a 50k+ vehicle
      • Actual leather wrapped steering wheel with better controls (look at Porsche as I love my Cayenne's steering wheel controls
      • Door panels should have more leather or leather like surfaces, not so much hard plastics
    • Lighting
      • Change all interior and exterior lights to LED
      • LED projection headlights
      • Add lights in the compartments that are dark: Center console, glove box, engine compartment.
    • Keyless entry and start
    • 360 degree cameras like the Cruiser
    • Either add Car Play and Android Auto or at minimum add Waze to the current system.
    • Add 120VAC outlet inside the cab
    • Auto locking tailgate
    • Fix the material between the dash and windshield as mine sticks out and looks terrible

Things I like about the truck:
    • I like the length because any longer and it would not fit in my garage
    • The folding mirror, once again to help fit in my garage
    • I like the 5.7 engine as it is smooth and has the needed power
    • I love the 38 gallon gas tank as I don't care about MPG anymore as I don't need to fill up except once every two or three weeks
    • The rear window fully rolling down
    • The sunroof is nice, but panoramic would be better
    • The cross traffic alert, really helps in the parking lots
    • The rear fold up seats. I know a lot of people still wish for the old reclining seats, but for me the rear fold up seats are more useful.
If Toyota updated the Tundra with my above wish list, then it would be worth me upgrading. As they probably will not make most of these changes, I'll just have to drive my Tundra for the next 10 years and then see what is out there.

On a side note, I know a lot of people say they don't want all of the "fancy" features as they are worried they will break. I would agree that a lot of people don't want these features, which is fine as they make the SR5 and limited editions that shouldn't have all of these features. When it comes to the Platinum or 1794 these features should be included to keep up with the market. Even the Camry and Corolla have these features at under $30k. Also Toyota/Lexus has had most of these features for the last 20 years and they don't break. They are no more complicated then the latest engine management systems and I don't see many people wanting to go back to carburetors and points. Just my 2 cents.

*I'd also like some F150 style bed lights straight from Toyota. I know they have the kit, but just install them already.
    * Yes, storing change is a hassle, the only spot I have found is the little hand crevice in the door handle. The 2nd gen, had a storage compartment in the doors...hint hint
*3rd gen rear doors' storage (DC) was eliminated...WHY??!! Not sure of other cabs if they did this as well. Cup holder cup holders cup holders.

Well, since we're on the dream thinking format for the Tundra's, I see several other Trucks have or will possibly have this thing called the "World's First Programmable Supercharger In Action, ProCharger i-1" I believe the new Ford Raptor has one and I don't know how it compares to the TRD Supercharger but this sucker has no lag, at anytime. For you Engine Power Hungry guys, check out the vid. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fr5Pv9EeOEk and of course there's the Fundra for you guys with Superchargers. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D-tqI4UKYCI

The license plate is the same as what Japan has, of course they have two types, normal and illuminated. I lived there for 16 years. They have cool stuff for our Tundra's that we can't get here.

Im surprised I didn't see more request for a better sound system. My choice would be Bangs & Olufsen. Also better headlights and led lighting throughout. Spray in liner is standard.

    *Bedside storage like Ram
*Lower inside bedside storage like Tacoma
    *Tailgate storage

Tailgate storage may sound weird however I've stored water rations in my Taco and it is surprisingly how much empty space is within a tailgate. I was able to store about 1 to1-1/2 gallons of drinkable water in little personally packets. They were rated for 7 years in temps as high as 150 degrees F...maybe more.

True, not bad ass, but no one here has commented on ever breaking it. I agree size isn't everything. Apparently the big three responded for some reason after 2007. Larger axles, 8 lugs would have been better. But Toyota isn't too concerned about that obviously. It was a good start. Now what is the finish??

I will throw in the same as others:

-Rear locker, or at a minimum a limited slip from the factory. This is my single biggest complaint about this truck.

-Traction control being turned off in one motion. My Tacoma is bad ass in this aspect.

-Better factory suspension. Toyota, you can do better. Maybe an airbag setup?

-A brake controller that actually works.:frusty:

-Find a different solution to AIP system.:frusty:

Other than that, I really like the Tundra. I don't need more capacity. If I do, I should be in a larger truck. So far, the reliability and how the truck performs has been a wonderful experience. In a couple of years when my truck is needing replaced, the Tundra will be looked at hard again unless a larger truck is needed.

I doubt you will break this axle. It has an open carrier, coupled to an automatic transmission. Only failures I have seen are on early 07-08 models with bearings. The updated bearings have fixed this issue from what I have seen.

I see no need for an 8 lug axle unless it is going to a full floating axle. We are not breaking wheel studs off. Hell, even some of the King of the Hammers racers are using rear Tundra axles. They are tough, lighter and can take a good beating.

Toyota execs/engineers can be perplexing at times. Once you think what they may do... Well , just wasted time. (I was thinking about queuing up Eagles "Wasted Time". Decided to give every one a break.):jellydance:

yep bank account is running low from it..
Direct injection has its own set of problems is a gasoline environment. More has to do with the way fuel is introduced/ burned and fired, reason is really simple.... I will explain.

Gasoline doesn't like to be a blob it needs to be sprayed.. of course you can use a fancy nozzle on the direct injection but your not solving the problem. Gasoline needs to near like a vapor state when ignition fires if not you will have left over fuel not burned or raw fuel. On top of what is said you must have a swirl effect in the piston to make a even fire across the head of the piston.. direct injection has great potential but it's not ready for gasoline just yet without major intake work and piston top redesign including dome work also.

Only place where direct injection is used best is in diesel engines. Reason no ignition, no spark to go out (flame out) needed to help the fuel burn.

That actually makes sense. DI sounds like a very expensive engine upgrade and like you said.... really worth it all costs considered?
