Hi all I have reason to believe that there is water in my fuel tank. I want to drain the tank. I'd like to use the fuel pump if possible as it would make things much easier. Has anybody done this? I tried removing what I think is the fuel line just before the Schrader valve on the 4.7. When I turn the key nothing happens. Anybody out there tried doing this before? Thank you very much.

I know it's possible. Dealers will do this to check if you have water in your fuel line before they pull the tank. Never heard of anyone draining it that way though.

You'll want to jump the fuel pump relay. There's been discussion that these trucks don't run the pump just at key on until the truck is running.

Your other option is to get a couple bottles of Heet and top off with fresh fuel.

Don't recall who but I do remember a member saying dealer shops do it by unconnecting the fuel line, then turning the fuel pump on. The catch is you have to have a capable scan tool !

Thanks everyone for your replies. It seems I need to find out how to jump the relay to turn on the fuel pump but I also need to identify what fuel hose needs to be disconnected. I'm hoping someone out there may have done this before to give me some advice. My other option is to remove the fuel fill hose on the gas tank and try to siphon it out with a hose. I just thought the fuel pump energizing method would be a lot faster and easier. I can't find information anywhere I looked all over the internet.

Disconnect the fuel line at the filter under the drivers door.

To jump the relay, battery + to the center socket on the 3 pin side of the relay.

Thanks Festerw. Do you know the relay number? There are 2, one for fuel pump (R-11) and one for circuit opening relay (R-12). Assuming you mean #4 on F/PMP relay? Thanks again.
