I'm considering a truck topper for my tundra for camping and to keep the dog happy in bed (she's a bit of a princess and only likes riding inside the truck and I don't like her in the cab lol

I have a couple questions as I have never had a cap before, 1) will they holdup to offroading/overlanding 2) how much mpg do you lose from one

I'd like to see pictures posted of double cabs with a cap preferably with 20s ( mine is a 2017 limited with 20s) as I've seen tons of caps on supercrews but not many double cabs. Also will a ladder rack work with a cap? I may be starting my own business later on that would require that

Thanks, yea I went through that thread before and found some mixed opinions. Wanted to see if anyone had more specifics on the issue than what I found on there. Also large majority are supercrews which will have a decidedly different experience since the double cab cap is longer I figure it may react differently to loads from offroading

Wahays, I’m in same boat. Dbl cab pro. Looking at CX Evolve (ARE). I’m shying away from HD version in favor of fold down front window and some other options thinking that I could still put fishing kayak or RTT on roof (I’m only 160#). Priority is sleeping inside (surf fishing). I’m hopeful for TRD Pro that this cap and rack won’t be enough to put truck’s nose up beyond level.

I remember being 160# .....as a freshman....in high school .... sigh lol my buddy just got a softtopper but I think im still leaning toward a hard topper. Just wish more double cab guys would chime in. Seems like nearly everyone is a crew cab guy but I needed the bed space

I like the looks of this one.... I normally don't like the raised look on these but this one looks nice. I think im still leaning toward the flush cab style that are more streamlined but not sure. Keep the pics coming! Thanks guys

Yeah I had a CM with the cab high cap. I really like the look but I went functional this time around. I needed to fit my dog crates and a drawer system in the bed. So the only way that would work is the mid rise.

that is also the century cap. They are the same thing as leer

    Thanks for the input.

Shawn, what make/model is that cap? Looks good. I was also thinking flush ARE CX Evolve but the MX would certainly increase the size of my camping area. Some must be mixing the Decked system with a higher cap to get the storage and enough room to sleep without the nose scraping the ceiling.

Century Mid-Rise Sport. And I went with the midrise so I could get a drawer system in there and have headroom

Thats perfect. I have 20s but mine are 275/60r20 which is the equivalent of yours but I don't have a level that is exactly the stance with the topper I want. Looks great

Did you see any loss from the cap? I'm mid to high 13s with my tires as well

Ordered a leer xr100 today ! Got the fold down front slider . Decided against the windoor option because I'm 5'8 so even without a topper I can't really reach in the side and get anything anyway. Only pro I saw from the windoor for me would be opening up when camping

Any pictures of how to add power lock to the back glass? I've got an extra actuator from doing tailgate pop n lock mod that I'd like to figure out how to rig into the same wiring for easy security.
