Does anyone know what year the tundra came out with the double cab stepside model? I know the standard step side only had the access cab aka suicide doors. I saw one on the road with true 4 doors and a stepnside. I want one but can't find which year that is.

"The grille was updated in 2002 (for the 2003 model year) along with a new Stepside Cab which was a Stepside version of the Access Cab to get more competition with Ford and Chevy and the Double Cab version was added to the lineup in 2003."

Guessing that's 2004 model year for the 1st gen double cab step side.

yep bank account is running low from it..
Toyota never did a stepside 4 door tundra they are access cabs... Tho you can take a fleetside bed off and put the stepside bed on they are the same when it comes to bolt holes.. Bad side on the stepside now.. NO aftermarket like lights or anything the toppers are getting harder to find leer might be on the only one left i have a are on mine... bedrug forget it took me 3 or 4 months to find one ( very rare anymore).. watch it some of the bed parts are no longer made... :( do to the very small numbers out there..

I own a 03 4x4 stepside love it it get some strange looks at times..

Hi guys, I’m new to this and to the Tundra world. I’m finding it is nearly impossible to find a ladder rack that will allow for a tonneau cover. Anyone have any advice?

In new to this as well. I received my 2003 access cab sr5 trd tundra after my father passed. He had decided that it wasn’t worth fixing but he loved it. Since then I’ve been working to repair it. Its been slow and sometimes expensive. As far as the engine and transmission go it’s been solid.even at 265,000 miles it still run smoothly and requires the basic maintenance. When I took ownership of it there were a few issues that need to be addressed. 1 the Massflow air sensor was bad. Which caused the engine to studder at around 2,000rpm. He replaced the fuel filter think that it was the issue. Wile replacing the filter he unknowingly pinched the fuel line. 2 it had a recall in the frame. He never used that option. Wile replacing the frame ‘on my part’ is where we found the fuel line issue.

Bought my 2003 about a year ago.
Just put in led fog lights and headlights.
Need a to put an in-line resistor on them so fog lights come on with headlights.
Next will be the rims and tires. 99F7ABD3-BF6D-4D4D-89A9-AF38A1FD5A5D.jpg Then after that comes the paint job. I was thinking doing the same color but matte.

Sell me your old rims :D I need a full size spare!

And yeah, the clearcoat fail issues on the metallic red and metallic green trucks is annoying as hell. I'm glad I have a non-metallic paint job, no clearcoat to fail (single stage). I personally love the salsa red pearl color and would stick with it. But it's not my truck. The red trucks tend to look really good blacked out as it looks like you're aiming to do.

Toyota didn't make a factory double cab with the step side. However, there has been a few people who have taken the "step side" bed and put it on a double cab. The double cab was available from 2004-2006. Stepside was only available on the access cab.

The original rims look the same as all the other 20 year old rims that are out there for Toyota, flaking and crusty looking.

Oh, n/m then. You must live in a road-salted area? Mine look like they're maybe a year or two old. No flaking or scratches. I've seen what trucks from road salted areas look like, and it's usually that, fluffy, powdery spots, flaking, etc.

Gotcha. I was born @ West Jefferson and lived on the south side of the river when I was little. The last bit of family we had there got displaced by Katrina, moved near other family in W. Monroe to get to higher ground, if you've ever been up there, not far from the spillway. That's where I used to spend my summers as a kid, working on my grandpa's 40.

May just need one inline resistor on one headlight on one side. Some people get by with just the one. Just have to try it and see.
