Has anyone else had problems with door locks. Started out the back door locks stop working and now the passengers side door is starting to do the same thing. Any suggestions?

My Sierra had 2 locks replaced with low miles. Bad actuator is what u think it was. Not to expensive if you want to do it yourself.

Funny, just last month before I bought my 2017 Tundra my drivers side rear door lock stopped working. I bought a Dorman actuator for $170 bucks. It took me about 45 minutes to replace it. I'm thinking they had a possible bad batch?

My Toyota dealer told me that the 2nd Gen door locks wear out easy.

Just curious as to how many miles are on your truck.

    Hi JTP,

My 2008 had 151,800 miles on it. I liked the 2017 model but what made me give up no truck payment lol was the dealer gave me $13,500 for my trade. I figured I got a lot of use out of my 08 Tundra. I just didn't want to keep replacing actuators or transmission etc. I have young kids and needed something new and with a warranty.

My 2015 has 30k miles and my passenger door and sometimes drivers door locks do not unlock/lock with key fob. Real pain in the rear.

Really? That could be a bit of a pain! Hope they fixed that issue. I sure don't want to deal with that!

By the way sharp looking truck! I thought about trying the gray but more negotiating room on a silver one.

I just ordered TRD center caps since we have the same rims as TRD Pro.

I hear ya. No issues AT ALL FOR 25 years with 3 Toyota 4 banger standard tranny super cab 4x4's and 3 V6 manual tranny Tacoma (1 super cab and 2 4 doors) 4x4's

Ive had my Tundra 4 months now, spent about an additional 10k on it for mods, and have only put 8k miles on it and I am getting all kinds of weird shit happening now.

My radio / navigation screen flickers dark to bright with no rhyme or reason, my ABS and Trac Control lights come on after about 10 mins of driving then sometimes come on at start, then don't come on at all for while, then come on again.

The dam engine is dying for a couple of seconds at a time with no rime or reason (like its running out of fuel) in all driving conditions then picks back up again and runs just fine.

    Im starting to get pissed.

    Shit really?

Did your mods involve electrical? Think it can be linked?

I did the HID head light conversion and LED exterior and interior lamp conversion a couple of months back with no issues.

I added a nicer more expensive break controller at the same time.

Issues started with Trac Control and ABS Lights coming while towing a trailer using Tow Haul mode with trailer breaks. Had not had any issues towing same trailer with Tow Haul before. Then all of a sudden the lights have been coming on.

Flickering nav / radio screen started just before that. My back up cam sometimes dose not come on either. Shift into reverse one time and I have a camera, sometimes no camera.

Engine dying started out of the blue on the interstate after running about 2 hours. Truck just acts like it ran out of fuel for a couple of seconds and I pump the peddle and it starts running fine again.

Heading to Toyota Dealer to plug her in and see whats up. No warranty of course and it only as 30k miles on it.

Wow that's weird? I went to Harbor Freight and bought one of those vehicle code readers in case my vehicles goes into limp mode.

That way I can either reset the computer or relay the malfunction code to my Toyota mechanic.

Only 30,000 miles? You should still be under warranty.

My 2014 door locks began working off and on when we started getting snow and cold weather. Passenger front, RR, Drivers. Now the only one not working is drivers door. Thankful I can unlock with key!!!! Does anyone think it could be related to the crappy stereo systems or wiring in these. Radio will turn off while driving occasionally.

I’ve been getting my actuators from actucatorplus off eBay for around $50 to $60. You will get a rebuilt OEM actuator. The part that breaks is a $6 motor you can get off Amazon. You can do it yourself, but risk breaking the casing. I’ve replaced 2 and it’s about a 45 minute job each. They are rebuilt and come with a lifetime warranty. You just have to send the old one back and they include a pre-printed shipping label to return. No way I would ever by anything from Dorman.

I’ve had several doors stopped working. Bought like a $5-10 motor on eBay and swapped it out and no problems after that!

I had this same issue with the front doors while under warranty & then all four after warranty. Researched a bit & discovered that this has been an ongoing problem with a variety of toyotas since as far back as 2008. Toyota still won't acknowledge that there's a problem. I bought the actuator motors off ebay, did the replacement about 2yrs ago with no problems since.
