They quoted you $325 in labor to replace the master switch?? Am I not thinking of the right switch? In my mind the master switch is the one that has the window and door lock controls on it. If I’m correct, I’ve taken that thing out 3 or 4 times for speaker upgrades and it takes me all of 3 minutes, if that.

    Update from my digging.

I didn’t locate any blown fuses, and no loose connections. I took it into Toyota for diagnosis, and they found no voltage coming from the Main Body ECU for the unlock signal. This makes sense to me, since the door will lock on command, just won’t unlock. How or why the ECU could go bad for that one command, I have no idea. So...no cheap fix to my scenario. Hopefully y’all come out with a better outcome

Hey hookdem, I’ve just experienced the same exact problem starting 2 days ago. Did you ever get your issue resolved? Was it really the ECM?

Curious if any final resolution on this? I’ve had this issue intermittently this year, but has generally become the norm in the last week or so.

    thanks!

I'm also having this issue now. Going to start diagnosing this issue. If I get any solutions, I'll be sure to post it here.

UPDATE: I have taken my 2010 Tundra to the dealership for a diagnostics test. Spoke to a master tech of 20+ years and he went over the results with me.

ISSUE: Driver side door does not unlock with key fob and does not unlock with door switches. In order for driver side door to unlock, I need to use the a physical key. All other doors function normal.

    STEPS TAKEN:

    1) Replaced battery in key fob.
    2) Replaced door actuator.
    3) Cleaned door unlock switches.
    4) Looked at schematic for wiring harness and traced wiring used in door unlock/lock.
    5) Made sure wires were not unseated.
    6) Cleaned all contacts for switches.
    7) Took Tundra into dealership for diagnostic test. As of May 2023, in Dallas, TX, the fee was $180.88.
    8) Master Tech said he could narrow down the culprit, but it would take un unknown number of hours to find the actual issue. This is booked at an hourly rate.
    9) This is the point where I stopped.

RESULTS: The master tech said the only other thing to do was to look at replacing the Main Body ECU. As of May 2023, in Dallas, TX, the total cost for parts and labor would be $2800 + tax. The fact that my door locks but will not unlock leads him to believe that this is a computer issue. If it were a wire issue, fuse issue, door switch, etc., then the door(s) wouldn't lock/unlock. Last, replacing the Main Body ECU was not a guaranteed option either. It's just the next step.

I hope these results help everyone looking into this issue. I have decided to use my physical key and not have the luxury of using a key fob to open my door. I don't want to shell out $2800+ to resolve (maybe?) this issue.

I had a feeling this was going to be a stupid ECU not sending the signal anymore issue for you all.
I pray mine never does this.

All these stupid ass ECU's they have put in vehicles are all nothing but problems down the road once age and wear sets in.
There is no reason power door locks need to be in an ECU, they just need access to the alarm system.

Modern vehicles have gotten way over engineered, and this is the results we get with age and wear, shit you can't fix yourself or for a reasonable price.

    SOLVED!!!!

My driver side door lock is not working with the key fob. Unfortunately, I don't have a good solution, but the problem is probably in another door. See below:

October 2023: I drove through a car wash and the car wash snapped off my antenna and scratched the front quarter panel. The car wash said they could buff out the scratch, but they actually buffed off the paint. So, they told me to take it to a body shop for paint. When I got my truck back, the driver side door worked! I asked what they did to fix it and the paint guy said, "Well. I don't know. I did have to remove the panels on the passenger door. When I hooked everything back up, maybe I plugged in a connector that was loose?"

Sorry. I know this isn't the answer y'all were hoping for. Maybe try to see if there are loose connections in your passenger side door?

    Good luck!
