I tried google first and they typical solution I’m seeing is to try and salvage the grease from the original handles. I want to be thorough when I swap them out though. Does anyone know what kind of grease is on the exterior handles.

I don’t know what kind. But I would probably use some type of silicone grease that is safe for plastic and rubber. Similar to the grease you would put on swaybar bushings. It’s also waterproof. If that wasn’t available I might go for some white lithium grease. Maybe somebody else will chime in with the exact type.

Actually on my tailgate handle, when I put in my popNlock, I used Plumber’s heat proof grease. Because I’m a plumber and I had it LOL.

PB Blaster has white lithium grease in a spray can. Put the little tube on and it's good for tight places
