Don’t trust Joe Joe

I feel like more context is needed. I've ordered from JoeJoe, he beat the prices I could find otherwise several times. Never a problem, and once I received a box with a hole in it, and it was missing an upper ball joint, I messaged him and he overnighted one to me, got it the next day on the opposite side of the country.

Other times he couldn't beat prices I found elsewhere, so I've bought elsewhere plenty of times too.

 

How did you send money to him? Paypal Friends and Family?

 

Affirmative. I do realize there is no recourse if things go south.

 

I don't think he's universally known as a shady character, and there are people who will go to the ends of the earth defending Joe Joe.

I'm glad the OP posted this, I have considered ordering from Joe Joe but won't now. The amount in question is dumb. But the insulting and condescending tone form Joe Joe is out of line. He could have simply said it was the cost of shipping and not refundable. Too many good businesses out there to support somebody who talks to customers like that.

 

In addition to losing that buyer protection, he doesn't pay income tax since he's not recording it as goods and services.

Another concern I have of Joe Joe, is will he try to help you if you need to warranty a part? I've had to warranty a part before at a local dealer and it was an effortless experience.

 

It just means he doesn't get a 1099k from PayPal. In the past I did plenty of side work, accepted cash payments, and reported it as income in order to pay taxes on it. He may do the same. If he doesn't, that's none of my concern.

 

I’m still trying to figure out what $8 part cost $67 dollars to ship. Maybe it is blinker fluid .
