Finally picked up the lights and installed them yesterday. Here's a few pics of the alpha black on MBM.

 

All I see is camo shorts and “man”dles haha jk. The lights look killer!

Has anyone installed these, or Spyder Auto tail lights on a Gen 2 in silver with the all chrome rear bumper? I have a 2011 Tundra in Silver, with the full chrome bumpers. I do have black matte after market wheels. But I’m wondering how the black housing will look on silver with full chrome bumpers/accents.

I have a 2nd Gen Tundra but could not find a similar post on that forum, and this thread was helpful for finding tail lights for my truck. Picked up the Alpha Rex Pro during the most recent sale. I am fairly happy with them, but I can see the advantage of the LUXX. It's not just the LED reverse light, but the amber signal you get with the LUXX over the Pro (at least. for my gen truck). Next time I'll spring for the extra bucks and step up the choice.

 

Glad this thread helped. Although one advantage that the pros have over the luxx is that you can use VLEDS bulbs which are super bright. The luxx lights brigtness sucks in the daylight. The luxx lights that are all red even for the turn signals fair better than the ones that turn yellow though.

 

Good point and I bought a set of the GTR bulbs (yet to be installed), but I also have separate back up lights in my bumper that outshine anything else (I can actually see what I am backing into at night). I have the Morimoto headlights for my truck, but sadly those are not made for the my model Tundra.

You made me feel better about my cheaper choice though.

 

I think they are holding up well. No compliant of issues with mine.

 

I am trying to decide between the Morimoto and AlphaRex tail lights. I ordered both and I have to admit that I am pleasantly surprised by the quality of AlphaRex, although both lights have minor issues. With that being said, are my tail light defective, or do you guys have similar "defects"?

 

I don't recall noticing that on my Alpharex taillights. Would those imperfections be noticeable once installed? As long as they're properly sealed and not noticeable, I wouldn't worry about it.

 

The one in the top picture looks like someone dragged in on a hard surface and scratched it. It's minimal, 1-2mm in length, but I noticed that instantly. I think it's one of those things that once you see it, you can't unsee it. It's on the visible side of tail light, not on the "inside".

 

Is it too late to return them for an exchange? I would definitely contact the company with pics for an exchange! Especially since it's visible as that would bother me as well!

 

I just got them two days ago. This is going to sound weird, but I don't want to waste the seller's money on shipping new lights, if they all come with "scratches"/finish imperfections.

 

It doesn't sound weird at all as you obviously have good morals and a conscience. It is possible that they were returned for that exact reason and the seller was hoping that the next buyer didn't notice. We can't assume anything, but at the end of the day, it's your hard earned money that is being spent on something that should be in almost perfect condition when you receive it. You have to ask yourself, would you sell those to someone knowing that they were imperfect? I already know your answer to that based on your initial comment about sounding weird.

Hmm mine didnt come with scratches. Although i did find my dogs hair inside them. How that happened idk I was like not even a day.

 

It's amazing at how a dog's hair manages to get into anything and everything. Somehow it always finds a way!
