Do you run a locking gas cap or are you considering one? With the higher gas prices I am kinda thinking about one but I don't think these trucks are easy to siphon and most gas thefts are by drilling the tank. The only other reason would be to stop someone from putting something into the tank.

I have a locking gas door. Thought about the cap but too many people got check engine lights.

I have a Stant locking gas cap ($10 or $12) for feel good or whatever ...
3 or 4 years and no CEL or engine light.
Even with the fancy $120? door, you can quickly pop it open with a screwdriver.

You are going to need more than a screwdriver. That being said a good pair of plyers/channel locks can remove the locking gas cap.
Whatever you choose it doesn't matter, if a thief really wants something they are going to get it. These things just slow them down or make them move onto another vehicle.

I ordered it on Amazon. Search for Stant locking gas cap and they tell you if it fits your Tundra.
Let me know if you can't find it and I can get it from my Amazon orders.

I have a locking gas cap. Neve had any issues with it. It's been on there 7+ years.

I won't consider one. A thief will probably fuck my truck up prying it open/off, or puncture the tank instead. I'd rather sacrifice a few gallons of fuel.

Thanks! I had deleted all the other chrome, so the bright metal screws looked out of place. Easy mod.

I’ve been thinking about it also of doing this, I already tried the stant gas lock and I did got the code , so I put the oem gas cap back.
Also if you don’t mind me asking . Did you swap out the lock, and if you did , were did you get it. I would like to do the same as to black it all out. Tia

Theives don't even bother with siphoning these days. There was a huge story recently about how the new generation of gas thieves are just drilling the tank.

Drilling the tank is much more common than siphoning these days, at least here in SoCal. I can't think of a bigger disregard for another person than causing that much damage over a few gallons of gas.

Didn’t swap, just masked and painted that as well. Was kind of an experiment, but it’s held up remarkably well.

I don’t run one on my Chevy and didn’t on my tundra. I personally wouldn’t want to mess with a key every time getting into the fuel cap which is a lot LOL. I can see the benefits but like others have said, if they want to steal some gas and can figure out out to siphon it and get passed the screens and filters then whatever. I would rather that happen then somebody going all kung fu on the side of my truck.

Oh yeah, since Toyota decided "decontenting" makes us more Money.

Crazy how my 1980s, 1990s, 2000 series Toyota vehicles came with a locking gas latch.

Even crazier how the 2010 and now 2020 series do not, what is dumber than that??? (you tell me).

Yep. I also plan to install a pinhole camera for anyone opening my gas door so I can catch them on video.
