I had the same experience. While I didn't remove the shim in the original pedal, I did replace it with the 04000-0440C part. Drivability is better. Like you, I didn't fid this to be "dramatic" but it did help the "jump" off the line deal. I also installed the Banks Pedal Monster so I have the ability to adjust the pedal response as well. It works much better with the upgraded pedal than it did with the old one. The old one was just too touchy. Going through an intersection where the lanes were worn down, it would buck because the least little bit of throttle input would cause the truck to lurch forward. Much better now.

@jbrnigan and @MartinBlank I have read that at the stealership they did an ecu flash after replacing the pedal. Did you have to do anything with the ecu to adjust your throttle response after swapping in the 04000-0440C?

I'm thinking of doing this on my 07 RCSB SR5, Right now it has pedal 78110-0C010

My original pedal had a shim installed by the dealer, and they may or may not have flashed the ECU???
When I installed the replacement pedal, I did not have the ECU flashed.

I did not have the ECU flashed either. I just replaced the pedal. I did notice that my old pedal had the shim, so at one point the dealer had modified it per the TSB. I did not see any need for the flash of the ECU, the new pedal is much better than the old one.

@jbrnigan @MartinBlank Thanks guys that is the exact information I needed. The jerkiness has been bothering me and when I pull my trailer my wife thinks I can't drive so I'm looking forward to having a smoother pull and this very well may save me from having a car sick wife!
I went ahead and click the purchase button on the 04000-0440C part, when it arrives and I swap it i'll report back.

i upgraded to the new pedal 04000-0440C part, it helped with take off not being so jumpy. before it felt like a runaway stallion, now it feels like a stallion under the controls of the reins.
I wont say it was dramatic change, but noticeable.

On the older trucks, I think that there was an ECU flash to update so that if the throttle was open, a brake application would cut power. Possibly part of that runaway vehicle settlement thingy.

Huh that was informative read! i also read somewhere it was 50/50 replacing the pedal would be better or not :annoyed:. so I spent ~180$ on a pedal controller that plugs in-line with the peddle cable, there's 4 different modes on it, from HOLY SH:eek2:T! to "eco mode" which didn't save me any MPG... Putting her into 'Ultimate' and turning on the tow haul = Traction Controller never off :militarypress:
