Do you guys know which 3M vinyl wrap color matches up to Magnetic Gray Metallic - color code: 1G3

 

Following. I’m interested in doing my front bumpers.

 

i have been to at least 3 shops to check colors for wrapping my bumper ends that match MGM but haven’t found anything that matches

 

I've read somewhere that this one is close but I'm not confident in my skills to wrap anything and risk it... I'm more than happy to watch someone else risk their money though!

I just need my bumper ends… I will be spraying other parts but it’s not worth prepping the chrome (or the removal and reattachment of it)… So even if it’s close I think it’ll be good enough.
Vinyl is cheap and having someone do those two little pieces should be less than 100 bucks.

I used this exact oracal shade and can confirm it is the closest match to mgm. The shop i used is a big 3m vendor and they did not have anything close to mgm but said he could order something if i knew a closer shade. After further research it appeared this oracal is indeed the closest. Just ask your shop to order it for you. Mine has been wrapped since new in 2017 and after 3 years still looks great.

 

Most MGM truck owners usually just repaint their truck Super White.
This not only eliminates the color matching problem but also increases horse power and speed.

 

its hard to tell on those little swatches but nothing that I have seen that I would have been happy with yet. All the gray samples that I have looked at were too light and there’s this one that was black metallic that is too dark. Looking like if I want it to match going to have to spend $600 on shells.

 

Would like to see some warped ends ... do they come out good? Are they resistant to rock chips from road?

 

so what you’re saying is that most Super White trucks are just MGM in disguise?

Just use duct tape. Neither is a color that anyone wants to look at so no one will notice any difference.

do you know if the installer had to remove the grill or any other parts to install the vinyl?

 

I don't remember. On the rear, I know that he removed some of the black plastic near the license plate.

Yes...
I’ll agree with others...the Oracal is by far the best match, and IMO one of the superior wrap material on the market.

I wrapped all four of my caps, mirrors, front door handles and hood bulge, going on two years ago (I think).
Color match is spot on. Easy to care for and (knock wood) has not torn or been nicked even after the last two hunting seasons driving thru lite brush and off road.
You can search thru my posts for ‘Oracal’ and/or ‘vinyl’ to see some of my DIY work.
I’m no expert, but I’ll be happy to help with any questions if you decide to go the DIY route.
