Do you carry while at home?

IMO, that's what matters most: familiarization, training and proficiency with your equipment. Caliber, capacity, ect are secondary to that.

 

My LEO trainer proved this point in one of the 8hr seminars he does.

He stood in a doorway, behind a wall. The other tranier was acting as a bad guy. Buy the time my instructor racked his 9mm, the laser shot him (pretend) dead. The noise from racking tipped off the perp, and my trainer was theoretically dead before he presented his firearm forwards, in theoretical self defense.

The first several months, i carried not chambered over fear of accidentally discharging it into myself, or elsewhere. I started at home, chambered, then removed after i was out and about. Eventually the fear subsided, and realizing (after months of beta testing) my safety never failed me, and allowed a discharge, even under full finger pull draw.

 

Chambered or not, the bad actor will normally always have the jump on you. Now if you're Sammy Davis Jr. fast on the draw I might reconsider.

I've been binge watching these LAPD Critical Incident Community Briefings on OIS, they rarely cut anything out. I understand why police carry with a round in the chamber because they are called to bad situations daily, in matter of fact I estimate 90% percent of the time they already have weapons drawn when they get out of vehicles. So many bad shoots, backdrop, and crossfire violations it's unbelievable that a civilian would never get away with.

I'm very pro police, but damn.

Call me paranoid, or maybe its the training classes with the ex leo's, but anywhere, and everywhere I go, I find myself scanning. No, not like this:



But looking at everyone in my surroundings, and see if anything looks out of place, or weird, or just not right. Restaurants, gym, Home Cheapo, etc.

I dunno. Maybe Im just weird, or spend too much time thinking

Only took me 30 minutes of walking through there holding a page-sized sign to sell 2 guns..

The dealer prices were pretty good for the most part for new stuff.
I was eyeballing a S&W Bodyguard 2.0.
Prices ranged from $379 to $450, but I talked myself out of buying it.
I really don't need it...
