In the fully retracted position, I think it’s roughly the same, maybe a inch wider. But when towing you can pull them out, I think they extend 4 inches or so on each side.

I don’t tow anything too big, I think it’s about 7x14, but the mirrors help the most when parking, imo. There’s a little bit of zoom which seems to help quite a bit with lining things up.

Even without towing, I think tow mirrors make a truck look more like a truck. The amber LED’s on the side look cool too. They’re worth getting either way, imo.

I would recommend using them, visibility is a lot better. I swap back to stock mirrors when not using them since I don't tow every weekend. It only takes about 15 minutes total to switch them out. May eventually need some new clips for the doors since they wear each time.

I didn't like the clip on/clamp on mirror adapters I tried (especially at night) so I bought these which look nearly identical to the OEM Tundra towing mirrors and are very good quality:

I tow a 7x12 enclosed trailer, stock mirrors are fine for that. I've been using the clip on towing mirrors when towing the 8 footcwide camper. Just bought Tundra towing mirrors, but haven't used them for towing yet

Oddly I use my tow mirrors to parallel park, the bottom ones are pointed right at the back tires. And to address the blind spots, I stuck these cheap circular mirrors on the top ones over a year ago. They work so well for wide-angle view, I forget to extend the tow mirrors out when I tow our travel trailer. So maybe the stick ons will do fine on regular Tundra mirrors if you occasionally tow.

I really like the OEM mirrors. Had them on my 2008, bought them for my new Tundra. No worries about shaking and they provide excellent visibility to the side and also the little bottom mirror lets me see my wheels when parking. I don't have blind spot detection.

I bought the Tundra specifically to tow a TT (that we will be renting) for long summer cross-country trips.

Particularly for someone who is not at all mechanically inclined, how much of a PITA is it to swap back and forth to/from the tow mirrors? If you don't bother, do you miss losing the power folding mirrors? I'm assuming I would just keep them retracted when not towing rather than switching.
