What's going on y'all. Moseying on over from the 2.5 side. Unfortunately, my 15 TRD Pro was totaled and decided to pickup a first gen. I'll update this as more stuff shows up.

    2003 Tundra Access Cab 4WD

Picked it up last Sunday. The kid I bought it off of was ambitious and tried to fit 35's and I had to borrow a friend's stocks just to test drive/take it home. Had some janky custom rear bumper I had to pull off cause I was scared of cutting myself and the license plate bolts snapped while trying to swap the new plates. Already stopped by the fabricator and got on the books for a high clearance rear bumper. Lots of heavy maintenance to do, but overall enjoying the truck.

Finally got off the 4R stocks.
    Toyo Open country AT3 305/70/17
    SCS F5 17x9 -38

305’s might have been a bit ambitious but sucking it up until I can knock back the pinch weld tomorrow. Also need to raise the front coilovers. Ride height is a touch too low

Ok, now I'm invested. Want to know what you do to get those tires to clear with full articulation (including reverse at full lock) without stacking a spacer atop shocks.

    Sure looks good!

They currently rub like hell. I got more ambition than sense haha. Coilovers are set real low so I need to turn them up, cut the pinch weld back and probably beat the cab with a mallet. Trim the flare and we’ll figure it out as we go haha. My last tundra had 37’s so I was NOT going to settle with any tire that started with a 2

    Alright, good luck! :fistbump:

What we've seen is, you may get them to clear for mall crawling, but any good hit off road will bust the seam at the top of your front fenders, then the real challenge begins.

Not judging: if you're good with looking fabulous at the mall, you'll for sure get this dialed in! If you're wanting to hit the trails tho, I'd suggest checking Casper421's thread as the most recent 1st gen guy to install 35's... then adjust back a bit.

Thanks for that advice. Luckily my fab guy is prepared for my shenanigans haha. I know the 2.5 gen like the back of my hand, but im flying blind on this one. Goal is to leave it mostly alone after this gets dialed, armor it up, and hopefully get a solo motorsports kit. Really enjoying the truck overall and I’m no stranger to cutting and custom fab so hopefully I’m responsible enough to keep it in one piece until then haha

Got the switch controller mocked up with a 3D printed housing. I normally run them down low, but I’m enjoying a clutter free center console.
    D7B488A9-DD7B-43C5-975E-BA0BDE2A2CF7.jpg

Cut me some slack I know it’s out of focus but it’s 100 degrees outside and I’m tired of workin on this thing. Cranked up the front coilovers a little bit and could probably go more but I’m free and clear of rubbing for now.

Cut and smashed the pinch welds back, seam sealed it, and hit it with some raptor liner under coating.

Threw on some lasfit pods for fog lights. Thought the sharp cutoff was going to work really well for daily driving... these things suck lol.

Super crude rear seat platform. Put piano hinges so I can still access the rear storage. Recycled the AJK off-road milwaukee packout mount from the last truck so I can anchor the tools and keep it somewhat tidy. May redo it, may scrap it, may leave it. :notsure:

Added some stuff here and there. Need to throw on a few parts. Here’s the update.

    Installed:
Icon progressive add a leaf - no overload spring
Evil MFG third brake light with 2 BD s2 wide cornering
Kc Hilites cyclones v2 rock lights

    Still sitting lol:
    Diff drop
    Coachbuilder/ekstrom designs front shims
(Might be able to remove some driver side lean and get me to a height where I don’t rub when bottoming out)

Starter shit the bed today. Luckily was parked at my buddy’s shop helping him weld shock hoops and mounting secondary bypasses on another buddy’s 460 haha. smacked it for a solid 10 minutes before throwing in the towel.

Also no luck on finding a junkyard vvti to pull the swap off while the manifold was off. Oh well.

Finally ordered a factory rear bumper. Was going to go custom fab, but I’m opting to wait till I have glass on the truck. Been rolling around without a rear bumper for months lol.

This little project started with trying to readjust the bumper.

Gutted the factory fog light pockets in favor for Baja Designs XL sport wide cornerings I had laying around. Proportionally way better, but wouldn’t recommend this to someone with a minty bumper.

Completely impractical on the street cause the spread is so wide/tall, but these will do so much better off-road.

KC Cyclone dome light attempt. Leftover parts and scrap ABS. Definitely didn’t go as planned but wanted to see if it was possible. In the right hands…. Probably. In mine? Definitely not lol

Addressing the neglected roof. Started off with 1000 grit wet sand for vinyl wrap but the cheap stuff I just wasn’t liking. Ended up sanding the roof the rest of the way and spraying it black. Did all the prep and my buddy sprayed it for me.

More recycled parts from the last truck. Wreck was so gnarly it smashed a few cob chips on the whip so I zip tied it to get it to work. Won’t be going fast for now, but the light at camp is definitely welcomed.

333 Fabrications billet steering rack clamp, cam eliminator kit, and poly steering rack bushings, and new steering rack installed.

Massive upgrade. Truck tracks so much straighter. Steering is a lot more predictable and linear. Steering input tightened up quite a bit and with the caster set at the max forward position the return to center doesn’t feel nearly as abrupt.

It requires drilling into the roof and installing rivnuts. Fitment depends how accurate you are but no issues.

Undoing the bs the kid that owned this before me did. Found an essentially rust free tow hitch for $55. I had to pull it, but the pics had the rear wheels and tires on. This is how I ended up having to pull the bumper and hitch… with no jack this took way longer than I wanted.

FYI bumper is in decent shape if you’re close to Dallas. Left it in the bed.

Went to the gun range. Snapped a decent pic of the rear end with that Evil MFG third brake light.

ICS Fab billet battery terminals. Chased a no start couple weekends ago. Rusted terminals under the clamp for the ground. Also cracked the cheap autozone terminal upon reinstalling. Figured I’d upgrade and be done with it. Besides who doesn’t like billet?

Kicking around the idea of going black for the flares temporarily since the clear is peeling on them. I know it’ll open a can of worms so I probably won’t follow through with it.
