Maybe add some sound deadening to the bottom of the pans

What were the dimensions of the lumber used after you cut it? Thinking about doing this.

I did secure them to the floor. If you look you'll see I out 2 pop rivets to hold then down to the floor. The pans are 3-3.5 inches deep

Only thing I did was lay the cut carpet underneath it. There is no noticeable change in noise after cutting the pans in. I put it there to prevent any possible rattling.

Nice write up. I have the Toyota issued under seat storage and can't say if was worth the effort by Toyota. I like your custom setup.

Love the creativity. Out of curiousity did you cut all the way down to the floor or because of the shallow depth on the pans they did not need to go all the way down...

I did this DIY last weekend. I only made 2 boxes to start, under the larger (2) fold up bench seats in the back. My boxes were about 13.5" x 13.5" (14x14 using 1/2inch wood). I just used the original carpet for the floor of the boxes, no other sound proofing. Hope this helps, let me know if you have any questions on my project.

It's a great and functional DIY. I really enjoy looking at carpentry work. They always make it seem so easy as I can never even make a 90 degree corner...

He mentioned he used 1/2" maple for construction. Has anyone else who has tried this have an idea on the width of these two pieces? My guess is 1 1/2" and 3 5/8" based on the two 1/2" pieces attached together.

What is the purpose of the longer piece that attach to all boxes (at the front of the boxes). Can’t the boxes be “stand alone” units? Great idea, by the way.

So that I can also store smaller items between boxes without it sliding forward, plus it gives it more of a finished look when seats are down..and thank you.

I like this diy. I myself have lots of scrap wood here and there. I plan to make use of the space under there but maybe for stereo stuff. @saybng what kind of wood working do you do?
