Good point about visual inspection. If I had it to do over again, I would not have bought the TRD skid plate. Not only was it insanely expensive for what it is, but since the install I have been taking it to the dealer for oil changes anyway, so the vision of an access door to the oil filter was a waste of money in my case.

In a series of misdiagnosed belt-related issues, which turned out to be a bad tensioner, I have had the pleasure of taking the TRD skid plate on and off to swap the belt a few times and the 30 secs it took me to swap the belt, removing and reinstalling the TRD skid plate makes a quick belt swap a total pain in the ass.

In that series of thinking I was buying poor quality belts, I had a Toyota dealer swap in a belt and they completely dicked up the rear hardware mounting to include losing one of the rear aluminum mounting sleeves. The skid plate started making a loud popping noise. I am good at removal and install now I went as far to add some rubber padding on the metal-to-metal contact areas, but mostly its about properly using the supplied mounting hardware. Although, its BS that the TRD skid has metal-to-metal contact...Toyota should supply some sort of nylon/rubber bushings.

I'd be happy to work a deal with someone who wants a TRD skid and I would take their stock skid plate. No I wont ship it...too big.

Pissed that I threw away the stock skid, otherwise I would have swapped it out and sold off the TRD skid already.

I am taking mine off this weekend. Is getting it off as easy as just undoing the bolts underneath? Anything else I need to watch out for? Getting a lift kit put on next week that won't allow me to have it and I want to make sure it doesn't get damaged by the shop doing it.

Any help is appreciated.
