Nice job there. The detached outer tube IMO looks cleaner. I attached as I was copying the Demello sliders. But I used same tubing. 1/8" but with 1/4" plate for brackets and gussets. Actually, you going to gusset the inner tubes going to the mounting brackets? I did, only because I am NOT a fabricator so to be safe, I overbuild most of my stuff.

    Fantastic job

    As a woodworker, I don't think I could pull off a DIY version. o_O

I do some wood working also. It's not a DECKED system, but works for me. The center board comes out so that my 120 qt marine cooler fits perfectly in there without strapping down. Plus, by being at bed height, I don't have to lift a full cooler up another 8-10". Perfect for hunting and fishing.

Yes my plan is put gussets on the mounting tube to the bracket. The only reason is, like you, I am bolting them on. So to provide more strength and to prevent flexing I am doing the same.

hahahhahaha as a woodWorker you have got to be spot on all the time. Working with steel I can always bring it back to life when, not if, I screw up!

Well I have them mocked up to the body. Ready for some final measurements before making making a mistake on its lines and what not. image.jpgimage.jpg image.jpgimage.jpg

I am no fabricator. So measuring where I should be measuring and looking where I should be looking I guess I don’t have the eye or in my head I thought it was different. I kind a like it now that I’ve been looking at it but it comes out quite a bit it’ll definitely stop a shopping cart from hitting my truck within the area of them.image.jpg

Oh, I thought the longer tube would be the outer tube. No?

No I wanted the longer tube to run the length of the body from front of rear fender well, to the rear of the front fender well. With the shorter tube to the outside for a solid platform to step on to exit and enter .
