You probably dont need the can but its a cool mod and Im doing it mostly for my own curiosity. It’s an expensive experiment. Nothing ventured nothing gained.

Wow! That is cool! I had no idea it has the built-in system. Thanks for the info.

How often do you need to replace/clean that plate that catches the oil? Not sure if it affect air flow since it appears the air flows over the plate . . .

I took a close-up picture of the engine and I couldn't tell if has the separator or not.

I have the single Radium set up. I wanted to keep oil out of the intake. The Radium is a very well made set up. You would be surprised at how much oil it catches.

They are well made. What year is your Tundra? Is it supercharged? How often do you have to empty the can?

I have a 2016 Platinum, I have about 9800 miles on the truck, no super charger. I empty and clean out the canister when I change the oil. It does have the convienant dip stick to check oil accumulation. I had a corvette with LS3 and they are notorious for the oil getting into the intake, that is were I learned about the catch cans.

I have been wondering about this. I now have a catch can on my harley. I thought I had a picture of the amount of carbon on top of the pistons. I am guessing that is because harley dumps oily mist from the crank case back through the intake. The inside of my throttle body and the intakes on the heads were an oily mess. There must have been 1/8 inch carbon built up on the top of the pistons that took me a week of harsh chemicals to remove. It was almost as hard as a ceramic.

Never done one but it looks easy on this TIS instruction. :) Not sure how often you need to do it.

    Too many…scratch that…not done yet.
Historically, I've always changed them on my vehicles everytime I changed the spark plugs. Which is probably way to long. But then again, I've never had an issue because of a PCV valve.

    @nk1794
How did it go this past week? Have you checked to see what the can caught?

I've changed mine on my T100 it's so easy to do, but on the Tundra you have to remove lots of parts to get to

I just did them on the miss's QX56. Pretty similar design, so I figure when it comes time, it will be manageable.
The only thing that scared me on the '56 was Infiniti/ Nissan had the wisdom to not use any anti-seize on the plug threads. I HOPE the Tundra's not the same way?!?!

I just checked the catch cans. The one from the PCV had a few drops of oil. The one from the crankcase was completely empty. This is after 92 miles of city and freeway driving.

The engine supposed to be extremely reliable. Maybe you need to add a couple of catch cans as a precaution. :)
My friends has a Titan with the same engine. It still runs great with over 200K miles.

Oh, it's ran great...over 130K on the dial. The Titan share the same 5.6. Titan is to QX56, as Tundra is to Sequoia. Same chassis, power-trains, etc.
I've really not had much to do on it. Other than basic maintenance, I've replaced a xenon headlight, the sparks plugs and PCV valves....all were way more difficult than they ever should have been.
