Yes there are endless threads on this. But they lack one thing: Pictures. So here's how to do it yourself, 100%. Mine is a 2021 Crewmax SR5. YMMV but the procedure is similar for all years.

Do you like to cheat? There's a harness available. (I wanted the 44" version and it's $40 - so I didn't get it)

    https://www.12volt.solutions/produc...cation-harness?rq=yr_2015~mk_toyota~md_tundra

    OR

    https://accessorides.com/products/r...ra-2010-2017-plug-play?variant=32416113524782

Dash disassembly inspired by this classic video. You only need the first 5min:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xu1C1AapaAI

I didn't use these, but if I had to do it again I would:
    https://www.homedepot.com/p/Ideal-Insulation-Displacement-Wire-Connectors-25-Pack-85-925/100192058

Situation. Window switch location is suboptimal, to the lower left of the driver.

Remove the Driver's floor trim panel, it pops right up from each end
    [IMG]

Remove the Driver's kick panel, there's a plastic nut you can undo by hand, near the dead pedal. Then pull the panel toward you about a half inch, then out.

Remove the two black 10mm bolts, one one the left, another on the right
    [IMG]

Now the bottom dash panel can be dropped, just pull from a corner and work your way around
    [IMG]

Tow/Haul panel removal is easy, just pull.

Remove the plug from the Window Switch, small tab
    [IMG]

Wires exposed. (This is where you say *crap* maybe I should have spent that $40)
Note: They are very thin, like telephone wire, likely 22 gauge
The gel-filled telephone connectors would work well to splice these
    [IMG]

My home made 'harness' in place.
I cut off the OEM plug and soldered the wires on my bench.

The plugs don't fit in the panel cutouts.
One must make new openings with a dremel or knife. It is very easy.

    Panel & plugs after modding
    [IMG]

    Spliced window wires
This is where I would use the telephone connectors next time or Posi-Tap butt connectors from Amazon. I used 20ga single strand wire from ACE, they didn't have either of those.

Final Product. Move the tow/haul out of the way.

Thanks for putting this together. I have been meaning to do this, but a little under the weather to actually work on ATxAT.

Nice write-up! Looks like my 2008 already has it in that spot.

    Because the current location sucks.

If I did mine, I'd move it to just below the center arm console, where the dead space is, so the passenger could lower it.

Just for an FYI. If you order the 8” harness from Accessorides in the notes section you can specify any length you want.
They made me a 20” and did not charge anymore than the 15.99 and shipping.
Very good customer service/response from them.
Think mine was like $22 shipped. Well worth it not to have to cut or splice.

Because on the left side it is in a craptastic location.

I use that back window daily, it's nice to have the switch right by my hand.

Good to know. Would have made this into a half-hour job.

Was worth the $40 for me to move it down here...
Otherwise the process is the same, just a different final location.

I miss my roll down rear widow of my 2005 DC.
My 2014 DC has a manual slider.
I have not opened it in 6 years..

If I had that rear window switch in my dash, I'd pay $100 minimum to move it to the center console.
That is where it belongs in the first place...

Great idea. I think you just volunteered to find out! Seems like one could tap off all the wires and connect the 2nd switch in parallel. The window wouldn't "know" which switch is driving the signals.

How do you make it work for platinum models that do not have that credit card storage in the center console?

Just put in an order for a 8' and added the request in hopes of a 20' but did not see my comments listed on the checkout section so had to follow up but with an email. Not really hopeful as these "nice" things never happen to my orders, but the other part that sucked was the site would not let use the discount code either... nevertheless i don't expect great customer support and would just have to eat the cost, it ran me about $25 shipped for the 8".

I’m assuming I would just need the 8” one if I move the switch over to the right of the steering column?

Not sure if you mean you did not see the notes section when ordering but here is a screenshot of the section.

If you mean once you got an invoice email that the special order length was not anywhere in the email, my invoice email did not mention anything about the length change but it arrived the 20” as I requested

8” is too short. Not sure what the 8” length is for.

They used to have about 5 or 6 length options to choose from in the drop down.
But now they are down to 8” and 44” which is weird because 8” won’t get you to the other side of the steering wheel and the 44” is a bit short for folks using the new 3D printed switch holder in the center console. Some have made it work but it is pretty close with no extra.

Never got the longer cable even as I requested it when purchased, so I would not recommend buying from this vendor at all. Also the 8” cable is absolutely useless unless you are going to cut it and extend it on your own not to mention never got the “holiday” discount. Overall not happy with my business with this vendor and I would not recommend them to anyone in this forum A37C1E81-20C2-450E-AF85-0848C07486B3.jpgECFBEFBF-9CF0-4C6B-A475-D7A3C9B726FA.jpg

That’s strange that you got this kind of service from them. Plenty of folks here when used them with great results.
Hopefully they get you sorted out and make it right for you.

I just came across this thread today, and like others, I have to ask why? I understand having it closer to your hand, but I can honestly control mine without even looking. The same way I have to reach over and put any other window up or down. I also use the moonroof on a daily basis but never thought to move those switches elsewhere. Please don't jump all over me here, just trying to understand why some of you go to the trouble to relocate this switch other than having it next to your hand. I personally wouldn't want it where other people could play with it, especially kids. JMO

Because window switches don't belong on the left front knee panel on any vehicle, for any reason, ever?
Its just more convenient in this spot, and the passenger can reach it. I don't have kids anymore, so not worried about that, and even if I did, its just a window, not a missile launcher.

I guess we could all go round and round on this. Bottom line is, we do whatever we like to our trucks to make them our own. I get that. Maybe since I'm left handed it doesn't seem to bother me as much either. I dunno. Thanks for the input Don. And I appreciate the missile launcher idea, haha. Wouldnt that be cool to have at times!!

Unfortunately, their customer service is non-existent. I don't feel like being a dick for $24 dollars, just learned my lesson not to do business with that outfit again.

That is disappointing. They were Johnny on the Spot for me. All emails answered in under 30 minutes.
Custom harness made a shipped the day I ordered and in the mail box 2 days later.

This may be a dumb question, so apologies in advance if I missed it earlier in the thread. But where is the connection to the rear window module? I’m curious before I commit to this project.

The connection is just behind the switch. All you're doing is pulling the switch out, plugging an in-line harness into the original harness, and then plugging the switch back into the new harness. All the ends are OE type fittings, so its plug and play. You're just making the wiring harness longer so you can move the switch further away.
