I can't tell you if it helped because I didn't try it without the dynamat. Only way to tell is to compare it with someone that didn't put in dynamat.

The silver wrap is on the existing loom. My wire is the loom above it that looks brand new and is smaller.

I think I'll go without the Dynamat and put it in later if needed. I noticed the silver loom was factory after I posted. Too much excitement in this thread to see clearly :goingcrazy:

Good job @BlueBottle ! I discovered those grommets (driver and passenger floor board) when I installed my AMP PowerSteps and then used the passenger side grommet for my Pop N Lock tailgate lock (I also used some Dynamat to reduce the sound - it is much quieter than my last truck was without it). My bed LEDs were installed by my dealer accessory installation folks (part of my deal); they used a grommet in the back floor. None of these locations caused any lumps in the carpet - the wire looms run between the foam that is under the carpet.

Same thing with me. I assumed they sent me the wrong wire because it was short but maybe they're all like that. I had to move my connection to under the bed for it to reach.

Me three. The wiring for the tailgate portion was about a foot to long, and the wiring for the side of the truck was a foot to short. I reran the wire and just barely made it fit. That was with wiring thru the engine bay into the cab per the instructions.

Awesome write up. Just a heads up, though. Those parts are SET or GST accessories only. I'm not in either of those regions, so I can not get them like Sparks can.

I went the direct route from the passenger floor pan. My wire was perfect length. I had maybe 8" extra wire so if I went the long way through the firewall it would have been short.

I guess anyone doing this themselves should go up through the way I went so it's not short.

    Good to know!

It's Southeast Toyota and Gulf States Toyota. They can get aftermarket accessories that are sold to them from third parties, and then they stick a Toyota part number on them. The part numbers usually begin in 00016.

Oh, I can get it. :D

We order from one of our sister stores in FL for these parts, but only if absolutely necessary. The only reason I don't sell SET or GST parts is because I'm another middle man and can't keep the costs down. Plus, if problems arise, it would take too long to fix with us being just another middle man. It's one of those deals where I refer people to other dealers so they can get the best deal.

The Pop & Lock is just a solenoid that activates your factory tailgate lock.Whatever issues you are currently having (freezing up?) with your tundras lock probably won't be prevented by adding this.

I really liked this mod when I saw a YouTube video on it. Ordered it through sparks but it didn't come with any directions. I didn't go with the wire routing seen in the videos, for anyone looking to do the same mod I suggest routing the wire through the same cut outs that the camera wire goes through. Just pop out the plastic clips that secure the camera wire at the tailgate and bed, drill a 1/8 inch hole to the side of the plastic insert and use a pair of dikes to cut a notch to the drilled hole for the lock wire to slide into and reinsterted the plastic clips. This way the lock quick connect plug is right next to the camera wire connection under the bed and can come out the same way if the tailgate needs to be removed. This gives enough slack to route the wire through the engine compartment passenger side grommet. Looks clean and wire is well protected at the routing points. When I get a chance I'll post some pics in case my description is lacking.

That't the route I went. But I didn't go up through the firewall as the floor pan is a more direct route.

Just got my pop and lock today. Still waiting on my truck to arrive though:annoyed:
Will use this when I install it. Love the idea of the two clicks to unlock the tailgate. Thanks.

It all started with me saying "no mods, I'll keep it stock". What the hell was I thinking.
Weather techs arrived yesterday! Probably going to order tires this weekend. Not sure if I'll get new wheels just yet.

Installed the pop and lock today. Followed your guide but used the provided taps. Those things are a pain in the ass. Should have used the positaps like you recommend. The provided instructions were garbage.
It is a little louder then I expected. The metal to metal contact is loud. Will probably install the dynamat. Or something on the actuator to quite it down. Thanks again for the write up. Really appreciate it.
