I have a 2011 and did this mod a few months ago - my auto off function still works. I'm glad I didn't lose that feature when I did it, I'm with you, I use that feature all the time. :eek2: Hope you get it figured out.

Hmm, I didn't specify in my post that I did the eddieV1 mod. Which did you use? Maybe I could get that functionality back.

You know if you combine the two mods with a slight change you can make it so the fog light switch works either all the time or when the key is in either the acc or on position. After doing the mod to the wire harness if you pull the fog light relay and bend the lower right pin (not lower left in the picture) so you can put a wire on it you can bypass the relay connected to the taillights. You just need to run a wire to from that pin to the power of your choice.

I used this one: FogLightsEddieV1. Worked great!

Apparently I was a little tired when I finished this mod after work. I went for a drive today and left my lights on like usual when I parked; my headlights turned themselves off after a little while. :bananadance: Awesome write ups on this stuff to the OPs! :oldglory: THANKS!

so regardless of the way you do this mod, you lose the switch on the column (blinker side) and have to use a new button? Or am I misunderstanding this?

This is how I did my fog light on all the time mod. Fog light switch is pretty much disabled and they will not be on in "auto" mode. No cutting, no digging in the dash and no bending tabs. Made little extension wires, plugged those into the proper plugs as if the relay was plugged in and then grounded the one wire.

Interesting why the extensions tho? Never seen any 1 do this and the relay fits just fine back in place

Didnt want to bend any tabs on the relay. I found this way to work on the tacoma forums which I did when I had my taco. Tried it on the tundra and it worked also.

Which method (if any) allows me to use the factory fog light on/off switch to turn the fogs on anytime and not have to run a new button? Also, I'd like to cut the wire to turn off the daytime running lights, will that affect these mods?

Yup, mine goes back on no problem. Like I said before, you lose your switch function inside. Fog lights are on with parking/headlights on/brights. Off when headlights are off and in "auto" mode if you have it. And they obviously shut off when the truck is off. I should also post that I have a 2011. Not sure if it makes a difference with the newer trucks.

so you cant turn your fogs off then when your headlights/brights/parking lights are on?

The mod where you cut/ splice the wires under the steering wheel. Your switch will still function but to have the fog lights come on you will have to have your parking lights on as well. The relay mod is for just having them all the time. You can do a variation of the relay mod and combine it with the dash wires mod so the fog lights come on even if the parking lights are off.

Finally cut some wires! I don’t like cutting wires, scared me! But it’s all working.
So...what’s the baby light under the dash? I can’t get it to turn on, looks to be wired factory. Bulb itself doesn’t appear to be burned out. Don’t really feel like taking the panel off again for a wiring pic, but I can. 9027700D-A6EB-4424-9B70-DA080914B44F.jpg5ABE9BAA-3B39-4F4F-BBCB-3AE6A2954F80.jpg

That’s your courtesy footwell lamp. It should come on with your other interior lights (dome, lower door lights) when you open door and fade off after 15 seconds (or however long)....

Consider an led upgrade while you’re doing this. There’s write ups on bulbs etc, I did this a while back but can’t remember where I got the bulb. All the other interior bulbs in your cab are able to be simply swapped out with led, this pesky little guy is the only one you have to wire in as it’s wired “in line”.

I have replaced my OEM fogs with Baja Designs Tundra fog kit w/ the Squadron Pro driving /flood combo OPTION. Very solid bezel holds them snug and they are just under 5k lumens each side. Outperforms the high beams easily. Driving the remote deer, elk, moose, bear laden highways of western Wyoming is now much more pleasant.....NOT DOT approved but I just kick em off with traffic just as I do my brights!

Anyone tried this on a 2014+, that has also done the 2018 LED headlight upgrade?

I just tried the original mod of running the wire from connectors on my 07 tundra and now my battery is running on lower volts and my truck dies if it sits still too long. What would cause this? I put everything back the way it was and I guess the damage is done because it is still doing it.

    Working on it :-)
I have had the Eddie V1 done on my 2017 for several years. Working fine but now I no longer have a fog light indicator on my instrument panel. I am wondering if it was something else I did or does this mod make the indicator not work?
