My 2018 5.7L just turned 50k; I noticed in the owners manual than fluids are changed at 60k (transmission, transfer case, both differentials). How difficult is this and do you recommend it versus spending hundreds at a dealer? I would use Amsoil for both reputation and ease of their squeeze-bag design. The rear diff would be simple enough but I don’t know about the transmission, transfer case and front diff.

    Any thoughts?

The differentials are simple. Watched a YouTube video. Never worked on the tranny and I too need to learn.

Super easy - just make sure to get a plews pump for filling the diff fluid to make your life easier and 100% make sure to loosen the FILL plug BEFORE the drain plug on each one.

I did all of this on my 2008 when I bought it. The differentials are super simple, the hardest part of the transfer case is taking off the little skid plate. The transmission is a little trickier, but is not hard to do.

I agree with the above post, and that you should always take out the fillplug prior to taking out the drain plug.

Ok so dumb question: I had the truck in AK for 4 months before moving to SC and now I’m in IL; I’ve used 4WD for only those 4 months in AK and I’d have to say maybe a total of 100mi in 4HI. What are thoughts about going longer on the transfer case (warranty aside)?

Everyone I’ve seen on here that changed the transfer case fluid reported the fluid looked perfect. I plan on waiting until at least 75k and I’ve used 4hi and 4lo way more than 100 miles. I do the diffs every 30k but will likely start stretching the front to longer intervals.
I drain and refill the trans (4 qts) every 30k as well.
