Hi. Is there a way to permanently disable auto stop/start? I can press the button to turn it off while driving but it comes back on whenever I start the truck again. Thanks.

To answer your question, no. There is not a way to permanently disable the auto stop/start

These guys make a device that disables it. I have one for my F150 and it's worth every penny. I contacted them about the tundra and they said they'd need someone local to bring thier truck in so they can develop the correct model. I believe she said it'd take about 8 hours. They're in WV, and would pay you $300 for the time to develop the prototype.

Hoping someone contributes to the R&D. I’m not local to them, but it’s almost worth it to me to drive across the country to permanently disable the Auto/Stop/Start.

This is the one feature I absolutely despise.

Thanks! Good info. Unfortunately I am not local either so hopefully someone on this forum is and has the time to stop by.

Thanks for pointing out this thread. Seems a lot of folks are concerned about the starter wear and tare. I wonder what effect restarting the engine has on battery life since that tends to draw lots of current?

Just part of my startup routine now... get in truck, start engine, plug in phone (yes, I like to have a hard wire connection), put on seat belt, press start/stop disable button. Back out of garage and GO!

I wouldn't mind a permanent disable feature for that as well. I would REALLY like to turn the seat belt chime off even more - that thing is f'ing ridiculously annoying. I've asked 3 stealerships and they all said no.

Last time I checked, a dealership will not disable the seatbelt warning for liability reasons. When I was a stealership minion, I had to turn down a customer who asked the same.

Perhaps Harmon Customs can create an automatic disabler like he did traction control... will probably need a truck to test and enough people interested to buy.

I actually had a dealership turn off my seat belt chime on my 2012 awhile back. But yes, they all said because of liability, no go.

I took a list of 3 or 4 Techstream changes with me when I was signing docs and picking up truck... All 5 seatbelt chimes was on the list, in the middle of a the others, and dealership did them all without question... I'd say it really just depends on the tech running the device at the time... I know there is a device floating around that fairly cheap and allows some changes to be made, but I'm not 100% sure seatbelt chimes is one of them... Its been listed on the forum, but can't recall of the top of my head the name...

My first request to the sales manager was laughed at and I was told, "that's a liability nightmare". On a return visit, I was a little more knowledgeable and asked the service manager to do it and it wasn't an issue.

I got my seat belt alarms all turned off. The trick was to ask for it before paying for the truck. I’m sure if I’d have asked after they would’ve said no.

I've only drove my wife's Rav4 half a dozen times, but it didn't take long to get used to just not pushing the pedal all the way to the floor to avoid the start/stop thing. Isn't the Tundra the same?

yes, it takes a decent pressure to engage... But I just made it a habit from day 1 and don't even think about it anymore...

The auto start/stop feature is a government mandate to all auto makers to reduce emissions. This feature is not going away…

The hybrid max model does not have the auto start/stop feature.

My dealership disabled it before I drove off the lot in my 4Runner three years ago.
