All the more reason to include it with the standard group buy. We don't mind waiting for all the standard systems to get built first.... :welder:

Keith is a great guy from what I can tell of my interactions with him. Give him a call and see if he'll work with you on the custom TRD exhaust. Can't hurt!

I’ve spoken to Keith and purchased from him a few times over the years. In fact, I just purchased dual resonators for my TRD exhaust a month ago. Good guy. Makes great stuff.

I’m just stoking the fire a bit and having a little fun.

Is there anything in the resonator itself or is it just a hollow pipe for the sound to get lost? I installed my resonator on my 8 and it seems like I can hear more resonator sound now instead of exhaust. My curiosity pinged after I installed it and was wondering if anyone has played with the resonator to tune the sound alittle more.

Just about ready to pull the trigger. I just can't decide if I want the 8" or 10". I talked to Keith yesterday, nice guy. He answered many questions. But, I still don't know which one. I want the growl but I live in the suburbs. My driveway is right next to neighbor's house and I leave for work at 5am. If I am going to go thru the expense and effort to install, I don't want it to be too soft. Any opinions about the sound diff between the 8in vs 10in? Thanks in advance.

In all honesty, the lower decibels travel through walls way more the higher ones. If the 10 truly is quieter and not just lower notes so to speak, then that would help. But if its simply just deeper tones, that might actually travel through neighbors walls even more so than the 8. I opted for the 8 based on Keith's suggestion. Its my understanding that for the 8, no one is really gonna notice in surrounding homes at start up, idle and simply just driving off.

That's interesting. I didn't think about the lower notes. I have tried to find a youtube video showing an 8 vs 10 but so far no luck.

I had the 8 and 12 inch systems on a previous Tundra. For me, the biggest difference was heavier/WOT throttle and light throttle steady cruise in the 40 to 65 mph range in 6th gear.

They both barked a little bit at cold start up, but both idle quiet and as long as you're not flooring it out of the neighborhood, you'll be fine with the 8 and definitely the 10. The 8 is definitely louder and throatier under WOT, but the 12 was no slouch either, so the 10 obviously slots between them. For me, the deep interior tone of the 8 in that 40 to 65 mph range in 6th was a little too much. The 12 was much tamer - so I suspect the 10 to be in the middle again. But if your concern is the neighbor's, you'll be fine with the 8 as long as you aren't gunning it.

If you scroll up a few posts I quoted a previous video in the thread. It's not an 8 vs 10, but it is a great stock vs 10, and you should be able to gauge off that. Use headphones for best results.

I got the 10 inch because i leave early in the morning. I live in a normal sub urban development and my neighbors can hear me leave if their window is open. The 8inch might wake them up...

I did watch that video. And yes I agree it was a nice comparison of stock vs 10. Just wish I could find a 8 vs 10. I am leaning towards the 10.

So other than the drive out of the neighborhood, what do you think of the 10"? Happy with the rest of the time?

Geez. This could be interesting then... I live in a suburban neighborhood with houses all squished on .4 acre lots and I leave at 5:30-6AM every weekday. The budget system could be interesting even with my friendly neighbors. Not that it will help on the group buy, but I'll post my opinions after using for a few weeks. I also park in the garage in the winter... I expect THAT will be loud on startup with the budget stainless system.

Listening to lots of videos, I didn't feel the 8" was much different at idle or mild accel, I was between the 6" and budget. There's also two flowmaster 40 series dual equipped Chevy trucks and a Ford Powerstroke 6.7 Diesel with a banks exhaust on my street. I'm hoping strongly that I won't be the loudest truck... :fingerscrossed::bikewheelie2:

I think the 10 inch sounds incredible in all situations. In cab noise is just enough to know it’s there. Outside it sounds mean.

8” isn’t enough to “wake the neighbors”. Easy throttle through the neighborhood and everyone is happy. Been running mine for a year.

What about towing a small 18' boat? I read 10" is the way to go for towing. But maybe for a heavier load?

When I ordered mine, I told keith I have a toy hauler I pull. He said 10" was the way to go. Also, the previous video really has me sold on it.

this was my concern sound under load. my last truck was a titan with full long tubes and a jba catback...sounded sweet but it was loud as hell esp pulling any weight. i added a resonator but it was still droney in the cab, vibrations gave you a headache. my tundra is supercharged on 37s so i have some tire/road noise already but i do not, not, not want it droney or loud at cruising speed or under load. i would like to hear it a bit tho. 10"?

I’ve never towed. Those who do tow recommend 10” so does Keith.

Remember. Keith has something called sound warranty i think it is. He will easily exchange it if your not happy with it. I think its a win. If you wanted a little more sound or less of a sound. Since the tundra is the road trip vehicle. I decided on the 10 inch Keith also recommend it. I dont tow. But if i did i dont think it would be a long distance tow. Just wanted something quiet on the road.
