Hahaha far from it. I’ve got a better idea what I’m doing now, but there’s still a large chunk of “just winging it” and hoping for the best.

I’ve seen most of these post for running 37s are with positive offset. Would I be able to run 37s on a -12 offset?

    I have a 6” RC lift

Yes, but you will need a BMC and adjustable UCAs to get the caster to move the wheel all the way to the front.
A correct alignment with adjustable UCAs make a big difference
Might have to trim the pinch weld as well.
Lastly, if factory bumper, you will have it forward and/or trim it in the wheel well

    I was running -22 offset with 37x13.5s on a 6" lift

Looking for input on setup. Doing my install now, and I clear lock-to-lock between full jounce/rebound, but dang it gets close.
    • SPC UCA at "D" setting
    • SPC ball joint furthest outboard
    • LCA rear mount furthest outboard
    • LCA front mount furthest inboard
    • 12.5in wide tire
    • +10mm offset rim
Is everyone hacking this much out?

For completeness - editing to say that I've gone with setting "F" for some extra room.

maybe a little off topic, a few years ago I met rutledge wood on the hotrod power tour, he’s a tundra nut, he was driving this thing, supercharged, I said, dang man can you turn with those tires? He said, not very much I just power slide the turns :D:D

Also I’m fairly sure if my memory is correct that was running camburg long travel on the front and he had some custom coilovers made to get the low ride height. I think he has a poor pitiful life working for toyota…

Taking a huge leap, but there was no chance of giving these up - especially when it was for free.

    Toyo Open Country 37x12.5r18

@Mountun Goat I think you were the one that ran steels on 37s. Did you have to use spacers for the positive offset wheels? I’m planning to mount these tires on my stock aluminum alloy rims… I know some advise against mounting on 8 width.

    What’s your input?

Wow, that looks awesome. Always kind of had a soft spot for the 8ft beds for some reason. I think I would have bought the one on the lot when I got my truck if it wasn't a base model. What wheels are those?

    Wow that’s a sweet score!
I had no issues mounting and running 37x12.5” on 8” wide wheels.
Yes I had to run spacers to clear the upper control arm on tire width. I was running 1.5” spacers- I cannot remember if I could have gotten away with 1” or not at this point.
With this setup it all worked well for me.

Excited to see what it ends up looking like for ya :fistbump:

    Here’s a little sneak peak!

Did you run stock UCA with spacers? I’m thinking of picking up SPC UCA even though most on here will say Icon Billet for on truck adjustments…

Did you happen to mention it in the beginning of the thread? I’m going to be reading through this thread again for some more detailed info.

Thanks. I personally couldn't go without the 8ft bed; far too useful. Also, this is the work truck model with vinyl floors. It was a hard vehicle to find.

Rims are Black Rhino Rapids. Believe they're 22lbs each. Tried to counteract the heavy ass tires. Ha

Nice that’s a big upgrade in tires haha.
I’m on SPC uppers- right price and a lot of adjustment.

So SPCs and 1.25 Spidertrax spacers are on the way... Getting some great insight from everyone on here.

Tinkerer's Adventure youtube videos are what helped me finally decide to pull the trigger on 37's This intro one is very informative. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_68Hc8GtLko He also has one discussing mid travel.

Yes. I went even slightly more aggressive. Interesting that the pinch seam is welded in that picture...

I don't like the idea of slitting every few inches and bashing the pinch weld over.

Can you post a pic of your cab mount? Saw a few variations but none for fitting this tire size. I had to grind a bit of the inner bolt bearing surface to make the filler plate tangent to the top bracket. To inset more would have meant grinding the top mount bracket.

    Gotcha.

I just built mud flaps and installed them so the cab mount is covered. I dont want to take the flaps off right now but if I do in the future ill post a picture.

Based on the picture you provided, you should clear just fine. I have a full 1.5" clearance and dont even rub my flaps. SPC UCAs definitely helped push the wheels forward with an alignment

Are you saying you set your SPCs on the "F" setting? That wont help clear the mount as much. Should run it on the "D" setting.

It clears on both "D" and "F." Used "D," with the strut assembly removed, to determine how much to remove from the cab mount by remounting the wheel and cycling at intervals between full jounce/rebound. Haven't completed the alignment yet but there was more clearance with "F." The Toyota service chart with the LCA in the above listed config yields +6deg of caster. Eating into that amount with the UCA's ball joint seemed OK to allot for tire dynamics.

So got my wheels finally, 37s came in also. Only problem was I looked up online my tires and they said in stock. Called discount and they said they had 3 at another store and could have them shipped over and can order the 4th. So they ordered by phone. When they came in I realized they were 13.5" wide not the 12.5" wide I had asked about. Didnt realize until after they mounted them, since I had dropped my wheels off at the store the day before the tires were supposed to be in, they mounted them, then I paid for everything after I got there. Said oh well might as well run them. My lift hadnt come in yet but had a 2" spacer lift. Wanted to try them anyway. Got the JBA UC mounted and the tires and started cutting. Was able to get most of my steering but still rub just a bit. My lift should be in Wednesday though so I can finish the install and have full movement.

Can you use coach builder tie rod ends or do they limit the adjustability to much?

Oh yeah I will. My lift should be here tomorrow. I’ll put it on tomorrow. It goes in to my buddies shop next Wednesday for alignment and to weld in the body mount chop opening. Once my alignment is done I’ll share what everything looks like and what the numbers were, etc and if anything else was needed.
