I believe I have that same grinder, but what would need to be cut? For me cutting sheet metal for less than 2 more inches of tire just wouldn’t be worth it. Long travel maybe.

Factory front bumper? Probably need more than just the shims. And will need a pretty aggressive CMC.

Factory front bumper and a CMC. I am more than willing to have the CMC redone. I think 4WP didn’t do the greatest job anyway. My caster is at +6 7/8” left and +7 3/8” right with the Camburg UCA’s.

Looks like i finally found the big boy thread lol. So ive decided to step up my game and go 37s ive read through everyones post here and to me I could fit 37s on my TRD pro suspension (bilsteins) with CB shims/shackles. I got an aggressive CMC done by the good people at SS Built when i got my rear bumper done w/ the dove tail. And thanks to Jaime got a great deal on a used NFab MRDS front bumper for the front. Next step for me is picking which wheels to go with but looks like i dont have too many options, icon looks like the only wheel i could fit with 17's because of their +25 offsets on my current setup and going to go with BFG KO2 for the tires. From what i read also looks like i got to do another mod up front (pinch weld?) besides the cmc if it doesnt fit but other then that am i missing anything?

What about re-gearing? I don’t think I’d want to jump up to 37’s without swapping out gears. Any info from the guys that have actually done this?

I’m going to test it out and see how it feels, I’ve read a lot of mixed reviews. Luckily this isn’t my daily driver this my weekend warrior to play with. Right now I’m running 35 nitto trail graps on stock rims and they’re super heavy. Hopefully going to bfg ko2 and 17 alloys will help with weight and the 37s won’t be so bad but we’ll see hah

Please report back about it here. I’d like to make the jump to 37’s for my next tire set, but gearing and fuel economy will play at least some roll in this decision.

I’m on 37’s and stock gears. Not great by any means, but it seems to pull all my trailers without issue while keeping trans temps in range. Don’t get me wrong gears are the proper way to go about it, but it can definitely be done in stages imo.

I've been on 37s for about 6k miles, still with 4.30 gears. As Mountun Goat said, it's passable but not ideal. I kinda like how the truck is less jumpy off the line, but I think that's mostly a 2nd gen thing.

37s and still on stock 4.30s only time I truly notice is while pulling a heavy trailer climbing a hill it'll start searching for gears but normal driving and offroad hasn't been a issue

Your welcome bro. The pinch weld mod is easy. I started a thread on it with pictures. Just search for pinch weld mod. As for gears I highly recommend the 5.29s in Cali. We have lots of mountains all over the place that you will hate climbing with stock gears and heavy wheels and tires. I bought the gram lights cause they are lightweight and after putting them on with my 37x12.5r18 KM3s the difference was huge. Just felt jumpier and the truck felt like it was struggling less to move. Climbing hills with the gears and wheel and tire combo I have the tundra just glides up the hill. If you can find the lightest wheels possible it will help with the stock gears. Also I would consider a pedal commander as well. I have one and love it. Also did the DAP tune so it holds gears longer.

But gears will give you the best bang for your buck. You won’t regret the gears.

I know that everyone hates the MPG questions, but seriously, for a truck that gets driven around 20k a year it is something that must be considered. So, my question is for the guys that are running 5.29’s and 37’s, what do you realistically average? I’m running stock gears and 295/70’s (34.6”) and I’m realistically averaging around 13.5mpg.

I average about 10-11. We have lots of hills in Cali. Also loaded with armor and camping gear, RTT and rack. Even with the camping gear not loaded it stays about the same. If I lived in a place like Florida which is mostly flat the mpg would be better I’m sure.

I live in the Sierras myself, I drive I80 to work quite a bit, and average in the mid 14s, but around town in Nevada City it’s closer to 11mpg.

Thanks again bro, the pinch weld looks pretty easy and i dont mind hammering or cutting shit to make wheels fit im use to it from my younger JDM days when I use to run static 1" off the ground hah but yeah gears are definately on my to do list in the future! I want to add gears/locker at the same time so itll cost more $ but less re work to get it all done at once. For the rims man the selection for 17" +2x offset is really slim, im not feeling the icon line up the more i look at them and the only option would be the method 313 they weigh about 25lbs a wheel they're more expensive then the rest of the line up but i think its worth it to save some weight. I just purchased the pedal commander reading all the reviews on it some people really hate that thing hah but im willing to give it a try and DAP tune is definately going to happen soon.

I have looked around a bit but not gotten much of definitive answer. I have a 6" procomp lift with devers in the rear and currently run 35s. Next tire change I want to go-to 37s. I don't mind changing rims to make this happen. What are most peeps running including offset to get the 37 tires not to rub. Currently my 35s will rub a bit only when backing down my driveway

Did you have a chance to weigh the Gram Lights? Just wondering how much those wheels weigh.

Nope, thats what I get here in Louisiana. With 4:30's its not terrible but it could definitely be better
I have 5:29's with lockers to install I just don't have the time yet.

I did not. I am still waiting on my fifth wheel that is coming from Japan. Rays said I would see it in July. So because of that I still have a method wheel as my spare. I will weigh them both and get back to you. Truck is in the shop getting painted so it might be a while.

I have 5K on mine and love them. Balanced great, zero weights on 2 of them and they ride awesome especially for a 20" tire.
I bought them at the recommendation of several friends who have been running them for a couple of years and these are guys that don't have to pay for tires but they choose these.

After driving the truck on 37's and stock 4.30's for a couple months it's apparent that a regear will be in my best interest. The only question that I have is living in Indiana which is pretty flat in case you haven't heard, and we drive lots of interstate to get to cool places, but the places we go are often very high in elevation. So do I balance the highway with the offroad and go to 4.88 or suffer on the highway and gear more for offroad and go to 5.29? I've read through lots of threads about this but still not convinced either way what the ideal gearing is for what we do. I'd like to only do this job once.

I think you also have to factor in weight when thinking of 4.88 and 5.29.

Fair enough, steel bumpers front and rear with dual swingout (full size spare and 8-16 gallons of water), 12k winch with syn line, sliders, alum skids, canvas topper with camping gear ~300lbs, 38 gallon fuel tank. Sounds heavy listed out! I need to weigh the pig.
