Yup, I initially did the exact same thing and thought it was out of stock. It’s a pretty good camera and very compact. Here’s a tip, don’t use the included double sided tape to mount the bracket. I’ve read that it does not hold long. The bracket has a small pin hole drilled in as a pilot hole. Simply enlarge that pilot hole with whatever size screw/bolt you will use to mount it to the Trail Swing.

Will do! I will probably just zip tie it first and see if i like the location. I see that they are currently running 100 off on the dircomp regular model (non-HD), and I have been asking them if they would do that for the HD and got no answers, I almost purchased it yesterday but still trying to do the pros and cons of this thing since at 2.2k its such a big investment. haha

That $100 off the regular one has been there forever and I also tried to get it off the HD version with no luck. The regular one will not fit the tundra for you can’t open the tailgate with it. It was designed for the Tacoma/4Runner. The price of the HD is a tough one to swallow but I am still very happy with it and glad I got it.

    That's very encouraging to know!
Do you happen to have some detail pictures of how it sits in the hitch (front, side and back)? I know wilco and rigd use some type of wedging system, I assume Dirtcomp is using similar system but they market theirs to not need a long wrench to access in the front like others, I am just curious of what that system look like and how effective their anti wobble system is?

    Really appreciate it!

You don’t need a long wrench for the Dirtcomp because they designed theirs correctly. Dirtcomp also uses a wedge system to tighten up the swing. However you tighten it from behind the receiver (under the truck) with an easy accessible nut (see pic below)

Rigd requires you to stick a long extension socket from behind the truck through the receiver. The serious problem with this is you have to tighten the Rigd BEFORE you put the hitch pin in. So A) you hitch pin hole has to be perfectly aligned after tightening the wedge. I’ve read this is very difficult to get the holes aligned while tightening. B) these swings always need to be re-tightened after some initial use. The Rigd requires you to remove the hitch pin and repeat process.

The Dirtcomp allows you to put the hitch pin in first then tighten. Also very easy to re-tighten when needed. Again, they did it the right way.

Last question, how do you like the front runner table and dirtcomp mount? Do you think it’s worth it?

The table is worth it if you go camping. I use it to hold my propane dual burner cooktop. Keeps the cooking away from the tailgate.

@king.cong.1119 - I saw the pics you posted of the 4x4 meet it looks like the steel stacks at the Sands. I’m in the southern tier of the Poconos and just got my trail swing installed a couple weekends ago. I know you already ordered but let me know if you need to see it in person.

@BayRunner - I haven’t had time to post pictures and thoughts on it. I’m also waiting to have a couple loose ends tied up by Dirtcom. Let me know if it’s ok to do in your thread or if you’d rather I start my own.

@SwampThing Feel free to post your review and comments here. A good place to centralize the Dirtcom info.

Yes, that is from the steel stacks around Bethlehem PA. I am from West chester area and not far from you, I wouldn't mind to check out your trail swing whenever you happen to be in the area :) I really appreciate the offer man. Like OP mentioned, feel free to share your experience thoughts of the trail swing here, I am also eager to learn. Cheers!

update: called dirt complex one week after placed my order, they said the 6-8 weeks lead time still holds true, and they recently updated the design in the hitch part. Changed them from being hallow to solid.
    upload_2022-9-14_13-24-0.jpg
If I understood right, I believe he was talking about this section?

Can anyone with the dirt complex tire carrier confirm that the current design is hallow in that part?

    Thanks!

Yes, it is hollow. Not sure if their updated design is the “Trail Swing AE” as in your picture, but the first thing that jumps out at me is the straight receiver. The AE in the picture looses the departure angle clearance the the standard one has.. This makes a huge difference in wheeling. I’d inquire about that.

well I ordered the HD right hand version, I didn't know they make an AE with HD? thought HD defaults to a high clearance design?

I would assume that but I’m not sure what the AW version even is.

@BayRunner where did you run the wiring for the third brake light? under the truck between the cab and bed then along the rack?

Mine came with the new solid design. They also changed the stud size and thread pitch for the wedge. That’s the thing I’m waiting for them to resolve.

The included nut was for the old thread pitch. It was hand threaded on so when I went to torque it down, the threads pulled out of the nut (better than the stud being damaged for sure). I got a nut from my local hardware store that works but I’m waiting on the real deal replacement from Dirtcom.

That is great to know! Is there a way to check if the nut has the right thread without torqueing down?

You could check the threads to be extra sure but Dirtcom says the old ones should be a 22mm silver nut with thread pitch M14x2. The new one is a 19mm gold nut with 1/2x13 thread pitch.

I had no idea they changed that part of the design and mine is a 1/2x13 stud that came with a 22mm silver M14x2 nut hand tightened on  So someone at Dirtcom got a little mixed up in the changeover.

I ran the wire along the rear rack bar, down the support leg, in between the tailgate and taillight to the underside of the truck bed. I have a pigtail adapter that inserts between the truck wiring harness and trailer plug in the bumper that gives me an additional 4 pin plug under the truck. I then plugged the 3rd brake light into this 4 pin plug underneath the bed by the rear bumper. Follow the white line in the pic below.

After months of waiting, mine has finally come in today, worth the wait. I am mostly happy with mine so far, only thing I see could be improved is powder coating, mine came scratched on the edges of hitch tube

Looks good, we’ll except for the scratch, but that’s easily corrected. Don’t forget to tighten the receiver bolt again after riding around a bit. Mine had to settle in and be retightened a few days later.

Thanks man. I did spray rust reformer and bed liner to cover it. Did you use 80lb ft for that bolt? Seems like it is kinda high and never torqued out lol
