I believe so. We were on top of one of the many peaks nearby and watched the smoke just grow, and grow, and grow. The rest of the week we were breathing smoke in town and anywhere we rode. The fire grew to massive proportions.

Went riding this past Wednesday and had a tip over right on a Boulder and it smashed my left radiator as well as put a nice twist in it. Took it off and used a 2x4 on the lip and tapped it with a mallet as best as I could, then put the rad in a vice and Twisted back to straight. Not perfect but it worked pretty well, holds coolant, and my plastics line up without being spring loaded haha.

The company I work for likely (depending on bike) makes some protection for your radiator. Let me know if you want more info.

Good save. As long as the plastic lines up it's good for a while. However, if needed, I always send mine off to Myler's. They always do a great job and it comes back factory straight.

Next couple of mods I’m considering:
    - Remove kickstand (been nice having on trails while teaching my son to ride, but it’s been a while since he’s gone with me)
    - Beefier footpegs
    - FCP engine mounts
    - Hinson clutch
    - XTrig triple clamps (maybe)

Don't know how out in the woods you go but in my opinion I would not remove the kickstand because of it being a backup to the battery. It was always a loooooong walk when I went woods riding.

Wow looks amazing, so clean!! Will look even better with the XTrig clamps. I've been eyeing the FCP mounts for a while. The Hinson clutch is great, I've put mine through hell and it's never missed a beat, only drawback to me is the stiffer springs, I tend to get arm pump sooner when I ride more techy trails but it's definitely a great product!

I think you’re thinking kickstart, not stand. But doesn’t look like he’s got one anyways.

Put some miles on the new bike. It rips.

I just pulled the trigger on XTrig clamps and FCP mounts — really curious how different the bike will feel.

I went to the track a few weeks ago to test out the new Xtrig clamps and FCP mounts, which really makes a difference in handling. But the strangest thing happened after a few laps — I was headed up the face of a jump, gave it some throttle, and my bike completely died. Thinking it just stalled, I tried firing it up but it wouldn’t start. So that ended my day after only a few laps.

I started with the spark plug and thought for sure that was the issue based on this comparison:

    upload_2023-5-2_0-33-4.jpg

Hooked everything back up, tried to start — no dice.

Pulled the spark plug cap and put in the old spark plug just to make sure it wasn’t an electrical issue. Good spark even on the old plug, no issue there, so I turned next to the fuel pump.

I disconnected the gas line at the engine and hit the starter, expecting gas to come out, but got nothing — bingo, fuel pump problem. So I pulled the gas tank, drained it, pulled the fuel pump out and immediately saw the culprit — one of the wires had somehow broken at the terminal (which would explain the engine immediately dying):

    upload_2023-5-2_0-32-7.jpg

    upload_2023-5-2_0-32-20.jpg

Still have no idea how that happened, it’s not like I had a hard landing or anything to cause that. So I got the All Balls fuel pump rebuild kit from Rocky Mountain ATV/MC cuz OEM only sells the full assembly for like $300 or $400, which is insane. I’ve never had issues ordering anything from RMATVMC in the past, but the kit I received was missing half the seals I needed and didn’t have the lead wires for the pump. Lesson learned — All Balls sucks balls.

Luckily my original seals were in pretty good shape, and I was able to solder the terminal back to the wire and reinforce with shrink tubing. I swapped out the fuel pump and filter, hooked everything back up, added some gas to the tank, and it fired right up!

Felt so good trouble shooting that issue and being able to fix it. Can’t wait to get back to the track to do more testing on the new clamps and motor mounts.

Nice @Bob_Wiley , glad you were able to fix it on your own.

While doing the top end on my two stroke I noticed a some wear on my power valve flap, so I sent my cylinder, head, and piston out to be looked at by a professional. Turns out he put a piston in the cylinder by hand that had a burr on it. The burr gouged my cylinder wall on the way in and out.

So now I am looking at a 5-6 week wait to get it replated or wait until June to get a 300cc kit. Either one costs time and money, either way I won’t be riding any time soon.

I wish I never sent it out to someone else.

Nice job! I had something similar happen with mine, bike would bog and die like it was running out of fuel or the kill switch was being pressed under throttle, but would fire back up right after. It happened a hand full of times. I replaced, the fuel pump, filter, and injector all with oem. Then read online by a ton of people that our bikes will accumulate moisture under the kill switch and cause that as well so I replaced the killswitch too and avoid it when washing. Hasn’t happened in a long time but it’s always in the back of my mind haha. And All Balls is terrible! I’ve learned many times that it’s best to just suck it up and buy OEM especially dealing with something like the fuel system that could leave you stranded in the middle of no where

This is my baby - 1986 Honda XR 100R. It was my first real dirtbike as a kid and somewhere along the way I forgot it even existed. Replaced by a KDX200 I think? Anyway... my aunt secretly kept it in her barn for 30 years! Surprised me with it this past year... started on the first kick. Great little guy to fart around the neighborhood.

    Also have a KTM 300.
