Yup, ride very conservative. Remember your responsibilities (family, work, mortgage, etc.). Things don’t bend and stretch like they used to.

I tore my PCL a few years ago after getting back into it and my knee hasn’t been the same since. I’m so mad at myself for it, came up a hair short on a long table two laps in a row and guess what happened the third time…

Fortunately it was only that, I am well aware it could have been so much worse.

How hard are you pinning it? I find myself favoring the torque of the 4 stroke and progressing through the gears much earlier than all of 2 strokes that I have had over the years. When you watch the pros racing tracks, they are literally hammering the top end throughout the whole track.

Pinning it less on the track than I am on the trail for sure. Especially on longer straightaways I feel like I find the top of 5th gear pretty quick. The one thing I’ve noticed on the track, though, is that 2nd and even 3rd gear feel very short to me. I find myself wishing those gears in particular were a little taller.

If you put a smaller rear sprocket on you'll pull those gears a bit longer, but you WILL miss it on the track for sure, especially on a 250f. Any jumps out of a tight corner are going to be a no go.
Maybe look into a bigger bike? If you're not wanting a 450 you can always go the 350 route on any of the 3 Austrian bikes. They price the Gas Gas pretty nice. I could be wrong, but I think the KTM XCF 350 ( I can't remember what model of the Husky and Gas Gas this is called)actually has a sixth gear. Granted it's not a pure MX bike, but it's a great compromise.

Snuck out of the office last Thursday to turn some laps. Had the track all to myself. Testing out the Enzo Suspension( which I LOVE!!!). Threw the GoPro 9 on and turned a few laps. Sorry about some of the commentary.

What year is your 250f, and any complaints? That's exactly the bike I'm looking for. 19 or newer so that I can dabble with the power tuner app on mobile.

I’ve been really happy with my 2021. I only have 22 hrs on it, but I like it. The wider shrouds of the yami took a little getting used to, but otherwise love it. The power tuner app is cool, but I haven’t created any custom maps yet, just been using the stock map. The stock suspension is excellent, but obviously a custom set up like the Enzo Loose is running would be the cats meow.

I'll be looking at a 19' with only 8hrs on it this weekend, and hope to take it home. The used bike market (just like everything else) is absolutely ridiculous right now.... but damnit I want to ride and I'm not getting any younger.

That particular bike is a 2019. I have a 2020 as well. Same EXACT bike. You cannot go wrong with any 2019, 2020 and 2021

I have a MX school here locally. I get race left overs from Rock River or Triangle cycles. Sometimes I will get a blown up race bike and pick it up on the cheap (2k-2.5k) and rebuild it myself. When I do that they all get the #13 plate.

Sometimes life has a funny way of letting you know what you really need. The blue bike I left home for last Wednesday ended up having a steel frame with orange plastics. I'll comment a bit more when not driving :D20211128_112831.jpg

In my endeavor to get another Yami, I kept running into issues where bikes were still on loan... like everyone's bike is still on loan. This caught me off guard a bit, but after realizing new bikes go for nearly $10k nowadays, it quickly became clear that this is the new norm - not owning your bike.
Normally a loaner wouldn't be a problem, but nearly everyone I spoke with about buying their bike out of loan had an issue with their finance company (not Yamaha) that wouldn't let us pay it off together and mail me title directly. Since I wasn't going to hand over a stranger $$$ and hope they go pay their loan off, then mail me the title X weeks later, I chose to not pursue deals. x5 Yamis fell through, x2 of which occurred over the Holiday weekend, and that I had full intentions of making mine.

I'd been eyeballing the KTM for a while. It obviously wasn't my first choice, but on Saturday said what the hell and went to check it out. Fired it up and started picking through it. Took it for a rip and jammed through the box. Started/killed it like 50 times to make sure the E start and turnover were good. Aside from a leaky valve seal on the WPs that I can remedy at home, the bike is clean. No dents, dings, rust, mud jammed where it shouldn't be (ahem air box), or anything concerning. After talking up the guy a while, we were able to shake hands on a deal too good to pass up. He was a beginner rider looking to get back to street.

Gonna check valves this weekend and see how she sits, but I'm not worried about it at all :). Also going to pull steering, linkage and wheels and get everything greased for peace of mind. Needs a cleaning and shine on the plastics, too.

Yup, had to get my laps in on the steep side before the RZRs tore it up. I'm out at OW at least twice a month from this time of year until April.

Watch, now you won't want anything but an orange bike.

    Congrats on the KTM!

I have a 19’ 350 and after I bought it I couldn’t believe I went orange, so I made it grey and black. I feel better about it now.
