It is my son's 3rd birthday today, got him a new toy and he took to it like white on rice. Once I finish up the winter maintenance on my bike hopefully we can do some mild riding together. He had a great time on it at our local park.

Those Staycyc's are really cool. I guy I know had his kid on just the foot push model I think around 2 years old, he's on a PW50 now and looks pretty good. Seems like they help so much with balance with out having to worry about throttle at all. I got a PW50 at age 5 and my parents made me learn how to ride a bicycle without training wheels in order to get it, even at that age I was 3 years behind the learning curve on balance. I'm not a great rider by any means now, but starting them out that young I think helps a lot.

I'm impressed so far, he rode an hour yesterday and started pulling his feet up on the platform for short durations. I didn't grow up riding anything motorized and didn't learn to ride without training wheels until I was 5ish. He's way ahead of me so far.

Got my shock back from MX Tech with their oversized TANK reservoir. Looks like they did a great job. Excited to see the difference the revalve and proper spring for my weight make.

These 20+ EXCs are a heck of a lot easier to decork than the previous ones; those 500s are so raw it's ridiculous. If I rode in the desert more I'd pick up another 500... but given the current political situation in CA it's looking like any bike I purchase after this model year is going to have to be a CARB-emissions compliant 4 stroke or electric bike. Too bad Alta isn't around anymore.

    New regulations suck.
What mods did you do to your 500? Thanks.

I no longer own a 500, the last 500 I owned personally was a 2016 500 EXC, a very good buddy of mine has an 18 500 EXC-F and I helped him decork that. The bike in my avatar is a 20 350 EXC-F (better for the type of riding I do), I de-reeded, installed a Vortex, plugged the various ports on the throttle body/cylinder head, removed the charcoal canister, and replaced the slip on.

Question for you guys more experienced then I am. Should I leave my chain a little long and have the axle up against the back stop of my swing arm with the proper slack in the chain or should I remove another link and have the axle almost all the way forward with proper slack? I've heard these Iris chains are pre-stretched so supposedly it won't stretch to much more. I've already removed one set of links. The sprocket is a +2 over stock and has kinda screwed me for centering the axle in the swing arm slide adjustment.

When ever I get a new chain and sprockets Ive always moved the axle blocks all the way forward and cut the chain to fit. I personally wouldn't have the axle maxed out towards the rear, I haven't heard of a pre-stretched chain but I'm sure it'll stretch some and if its already maxed out then you cant tighten the slack and will need to cut it anyways. Just make sure your rear tire clears the swing arm with it all the way forward before/if you cut it

@FirstGenTundra also you can flip your axle blocks 180* to get it right where you want it.

I didn't know you could do that, that's freaking brilliant! Thank you! And I tend to agree that it should be shorter than longer.
