My Toyhauler. My 2003 Tundra pulls it fine but I wouldn't want it to be a single pound heavier.TruckHauler.jpg

    Is that photo from LACR?
I lived in San Diego County for 18 years (Thanks Marine Corps) and have raced all the tracks out there. It's the only thing I miss about living in CA.

I raised 2 boys out there (Now 40 and 34 years old) and they still live in Oceanside and Carlsbad. They rode at Fox last Sunday and were telling me about the new layout of the Vet track; they both loved it.
I visited last November and rode at both Fox and Cahuilla on my youngest Son's 2019 KX450. I am going back out there the first week of December and plan to ride again.

Do you drive between TN and CA? That's a long haul!

I have a few friends who live out in socal who refer to it as Fox, and I'm just like 'oh ok you mean Pala' :p.

I HAVE driven it a couple of times but I generally fly out and borrow a bike from my Son Kyle. He has a few bikes and has decided he likes his Husky 250F best, so I get the 2019 KX450, which I LOVE.
It will always be Pala to me. I lived about 20 minutes away from it, so it was my home track from when it opened, to 2012 when I moved to Tennessee.

I just went last Saturday to check out the new layout it was great! One thing I love about fox is they make stuff challenging but not overwhelming. Pala was the same way once you get into a rhythm the track is a blast.

I did. back in 2017.5 I took a Factory KTM 250 and put a 350 motor in it. I called it "Franken-Pumpkin" AWESOME bike. Wrong ergonomics for me though...the Yamaha just fits like my gloves. The KTM fit like OJ's gloves

I have and I liked it but one of the things I love about a 250 is the light weight. The 350 weighs about the same as a 450 but with less power, so it didn't make any sense to me. :notsure:

For the record, as my health has deteriorated, I have gone back to a 450 for good because I am no longer able to do what needs to be done physically on the smaller bike. A 450 allows me to be "lazy" and still get over obstacles/jumps with a crack of the throttle. The 2019 KX450 I have now is so light and slim that I am very happy with my choice.

I know this day will come eventually but I am pushing it off as long as I can...the 450's now are so much lighter than they were even just 5 years ago.

You need to stick to what is comfortable!

I understand, that makes sense. The 450 makes life easier. My 350 doesn't have the power my CRF450 had.

If you compare the weight of a new ktm 250sx-f vs. a 350sx-f, the 350 is only 1 pound heavier. Not sure if the big four made/make lighter 250's (no electric start, no battery).

Just thought I would ask bc it seems like it bridges the gap between the 250/450 debate.
