lol, the Tacoma forums and subreddits are all circlejerkin' over the TFL truck breaking and probably will be circlejerkin' over it for the next two years.

It's just the same thing as over here except replace "turbo V6 versus muh trusty V8" with "turbo 4 cylinder versus muh trusty gutless V6"

That’s funny bc here it’s “wow I wish Toyota cared about the Tundra as much as they do the Tacoma; obviously the Taco is their bread and butter when it comes to the NA truck market, etc”

Too bad you’re so anti-piggy back. Throw in a JB4 or a Stillen with some E85 along with an S&B intake, you’ll really hear them turbos!

TX seems pretty great for a family hauler if you don’t need it to do any truck tasks like towing, off roading, etc. I’m assuming it’s a Lexus version of the Grand Highlander.

I think you missed what I was trying to say . I wasn’t saying one was better than the other just how is a composite bed going to rot .

Not completely, I do about 5 gallons to a full tank, limited to stock fuel maps.

With a proper tune it could probably do full E85, the Tundra has a low pressure and high pressure pump which should suffice.

My Stang has run full E85 for about 50k miles. Proactively I add Lucas E85 fuel stabilizer to lubricant the fuel injectors, fuel pump and seals. No issues.

Middle row captain’s chairs and a useful sized 3rd row seating for two with luggage space for 6-7 Pelican Air Travel carry on cases works great for my mom and for us too. All the reviews that complain about it being a giant boat are missing the point. That’s exactly what I want for 3 adults, a 6-7 year old boy, and all of our crap on a 10-12 hour day of eating up interstate highway.

So if my mom has the itch for a new ride, I won’t dissuade her. My only recommendation is opt for the turbo 4 hybrid because the extra power will be great loaded up when passing on two lane highways.

It's similar to how poor people will often dress up with expensive sneakers and chains, while Bill Gates looks like a guy out of an old navy commercial. Poor people are notorious for spending their money on fleeting things, like gas lol

Those are called “micro luxuries”. Because us poors don’t have multi million dollar yachts, mansions and private jets. Gotta have something nice.

Sure. Your quote is reminding me of one of my boats. Its a Seafox CC. So I went out there this morning and took a picture. Its still wrapped. From the Seafox factory on the back, there are labels in big letters.

    NO WOOD ! - NO ROT ! LIFETIME WARRANTY - 8^0

How many years does Toyota warranty their composite bed ?

    ***************************************************************
So I guess we don't want Boats to Rot and Trucks to Rust ?

No the bed is not going to rust or rot. But it could crack.
There are internet reports with pictures of Tacoma guys with bed caps overlanding. When they removed the cap they found cracks in the bed.

I have 10 years experience myself with a composite bed on my wifes Ridgeline - a first gen that we owned and it had Leer Cap on it. But it was used like an SUV going to hockey rinks. No overlanding. I had a 4Runner daily driver, and I convinced her at the time to get a Ridgeline instead of a van. Told her it would hold all the sons goalie gear separate away from us .....in a trunk.

There were no 5th wheel hitch kits for a 3rd gen when they came out, so the '21 was my only option.

Toyotas reputation is much better than SeaFox. Not saying there's wood on the boat, b/c most are built with coosa or similar now but many other things will go before you need to worry about composite stringers.

I believe the 2nd row captains chairs are standard on the TX500h. If not that package will be mandatory. As she’s pointed out she spends a lot of time in the back seat of her own car these days. I don’t think she minds being chauffeured either, especially at night. LOL.

100% composite where wood would go. I was aware of their less than stellar reputution when I bought it. But I am attracted to Unicorns.
I realize these CC boats are as common as F150's in the southern US but in the Great Lakes region they are very rare. I have upgraded all the boat parts that I thought needed updating and changed the way the bilge works and did a different plumbing design for the live wells.
I sent them an email this morning and Harry responded within 10 minutes. I think small companies can change for the better or worse pretty quick. Companies like Toyota take years. JM0
