Hey, is your money is your business. The way I look at it is more power to you for the choice you made and I respect that. Gen 2.5, gen 3, who cares as long you're happy, that's all that matters :)

I don't have to have a truck that rides like shit to not even be able to have 1,000 payload left after I get in, like my 2016 did. but "get that one for work"

I think toyota hit it out of the park in that regard, it rides awesome, loaded and unloaded and can carry more and tow more while doing it. I also have 0 squat in any situation. towing performance and stability are not even close, they really improved that

    pretty good stuff.

I’m surprised that nobody mentioned the bed rot in the 2nd Gen and him saying “ hopefully it won’t happen in the 3rd gen , time will tell “
How is the 3rd gen going to get bed rot with a composite bed ?

The 3rd gen tows better hands down, and I'm also level no matter the load, so I disagree a little, toyota significantly improved the towing performance and especially the stability

that being said, IMO anything over 7500-8500 in either truck I would go bigger truck north of that anyways.

ya, I caught that, was like umm no, better go check that one. They also SIGNIFICANTLY improved rust protection for the fully boxed frame.

Still insufficient. But they don't intend to make truck that lasts forever. That would go against business.

AMD is flawed but he seems to be more informed than other YouTube Toyota gurus. I say that from the position of having worked with Toyota & Lexus for a decade. I got out of the business in the spring of 2021 and missed training on the new Tundra generation. So I have little knowledge of the new platform.

    How are his comments misguided?

Why is the suggestion about not buying the 2022 or 2023 comical?

I ask because maybe there is something I and others can learn here. Your profile states, "..I DO NOT WORK FOR TOYOTA..." This seems to imply you are a Toyota expert who does not work for Toyota.

I agree about not buying the 2022, no thanks, I was watching carefully and it seems like toyota got most of the shit worked out by spring 2023, so I went by that with my cash, so far so good, I have a solid build, not perfect but nothing is

How many miles are you currently at Euro? Love the sub machine gun with some Eazy E.

I’m going to purchase a 9mm, get plenty of ammo for that every yearly quarter.

Tech who did my fuel line recall agreed they need to find a solution about the wind noise but they don’t see it as an issue for the sequoius. What gives?

if its something beyond seals, not much they can do with the older trucks I wouldn't think. Im not privy to what they are trying though as you are

The engineers aren’t engineering. The solution is bigger A pillars to block the air pressure from air pressuring

I see it differently. I see an old truck that outside of a bed that looks like it was used, abused and never sprayed annually for rust like you should be doing if you drive it in the rust belt - it looks fantastic after all these years. He said the frame was fine. My son is a construction millright and has his welding licence. You can drop and weld a sheet on top and be done with it. Composite beds have their own problems. I have said from the start that they will have chronic problems with plastic beds in full size trucks that get loaded in the bed - heavy. Both from a noise and movement factor. Do a search on Bed Stiffener in this forum. Have you seen the underside patches they put on for vibration and noise. As long as you cant see it right ?

If it was your money that is one thing. But that is a $75k truck which is $100k Cdn dollars plus 13% tax. I know maybe 1/2 dozen people currently, all younger meaning under 30 who have acquired new vehicles the last 2 years all over $75k. They all lease or its a loan they write off. The Lender owns the truck/suv. All these people see themselves as "borrowing" it for a few years. No long term ownership aspirations whatsoever. They are not on the forums worried about something that might go Kaboom. They really don't care. As long as they got a ride given to them when they drop it off for service.

I never cared for the 3rd gen because of 1. horrible design choices and 2. overpriced for my taste :) So I decided to stick with my 2nd gen and get a new 2,5 gen instead which is half of the price of a 3rd gen :) All cash transactions

Is going to be very interesting to watch this trend, particularly given the challenge of affordability for the middle class with cars priced over $70K. Something will have to give at some point, loans going to default or car prices will start going down. And add the EV's to the mix so you keep things exciting :)

I think you can see what is happening to the trend already: Hyundai is raiding the market. I would not be surprised if they come with a real truck soon.

Hyundai and Honda as well. Just got a new Pilot Trailsport for me wife and it was priced reasonable for what I got, I think it was $51K after taxes and paper works. Is my 3rd Pilot and they used to be built like a tank. This new Pilot feels flimsy and I am not impressed but the wife likes it. I wanted to get her the big Lexus GX but she didn't care for it. O well

What do you tow, a 3k lb bass boat? I tow a 7k+ lb 32’ trailer that’s 8’ wide and 12’ tall and I have zero complaints for power, braking, stability etc. Mine also stays level with a $300 set of airbags, which I frankly don’t even need to stay level with the WDH. You can say it’s better based on your opinion on what you read if you like, but I don’t see any areas that needed improving on my setup.

If the comfort and technology amenities are what matters to you in your truck, and you’re willing to pay a whole lot more for the 3rd gen to get them then that’s exactly what you should have. Enjoy! For my use case, the 2nd gen is superior. The 3rd gen simply can not do some of the things mine will. We don’t all use our trucks the same way. They’re clearly different designs for a different kind of person. Toyota abandoned one to appease the other, which I get it if that’s where the sales are to be made. I’m just not a new tundra buyer next time I’m in the market that’s all.

I got my 23 Tundra in early November of 22. The wind noise is the only issue complaint I’ve had. If you look at my truck, the window seals look pretty janky. I’m not overly concerned with it as that’s an easy fix when I get around to it.
A couple of weeks after getting the Tundra, we got a 23 Sequoa. It was actually held back for a few days at GST while they redid the window seals. They look perfect and no wind noise.
Basically it seems like I got both vehicles just on either side of them correcting them. Got both of them the day they hit the lot.

Run a sub 13 second quarter mile on 35s, have nearly as tight of a turn radius, sound like a V8, have a DC with an inhabitable back seat that fits in my garage with a 6.5’ bed, have a minimal tech that I find to be more of a con than a pro, have usable tow hooks, have as deep of a bed, have a 38 gallon tank (cause they all get terrible mileage towing just the same), and have a stellar reliability track record and ability to fix many things on my own for starters.

No doubt, but the buy in is significantly less than a 3rd gen either way. Just 6 grand could get you a Whipple SC on Black Friday. If a person was really questioning whether to buy a used 2nd gen vs a 3rd gen and supercharge it they are still coming in quite a bit cheaper.

Ah nice, missed the supercharger aspect.

But yeah, most of that list isn't "unable to do things", just a list of preferences besides the drag strip thing (maybe? has anyone tested that?) and turning radius. Thought you meant like it wouldn't tow something or wouldn't be able to go into a specific geographic location or something.

The Gen 2 will absolutely smoke any other generation of Tundra in a race and it’s not even close.
