Bout to be in finance with my 23 platinum. So far no word about the cluster or stop sale. So far the only thing I had to sign was stating that a lot of cars are only coming with 1 key and eventually one will be mailed when available, but not all cars have that issue.

So I am officially the owner of a 23 platinum! No word from the dealer or anything about the cluster?! I also have 2 keys but only 1 fob so that part I heard was going on about a fob shortage..

Any updates on the rumored update that would be available today (2/15)?

Mine is currently at dealership tackling this issue with a few other issues. 23' TRD PRO. They text saying that "per Toyota" they were ordering a Combination Meter to address the problem. I have no idea what that is and haven't seen it mentioned anywhere else. They also mentioned that my vehicle will have to stay at dealership, not being driven, because the new combination meter has to have same mileage as old one. Thoughts?

I don't buy the "combination meter" as the reason for taking the truck off the road. Toyota and the dealer can't allow the vehicle to leave if the speedo isn't going to be working, pretty basic NHTSA requirement to be able to monitor your speed. Probably opens them up to all sorts of law suits to put vehicles not fit for the road back out.

Speedo works fine now. This happened around 2 weeks ago. I mainly took it to dealership because it went in limp mode around a week ago. I told them everything at once. Cluster went blank two weeks ago, rattle in back glass when down, and limp mode with CEL a week ago. When i dropped it off it appeared to be working fine. My main issue was when the CEL came on it was only able to go around 10mph(limp mode). That is what worries me the most, if that can happen at anytime. Thought I would just mention everything at once. Maybe a bad idea...

My turn. Last night at 11 pm experienced the same issue with blackout of my digital cluster. I have 2023 1794 Tundra nonhybrid ( purchased Dec 28,2022) , this happened at 1130 miles mark. Luckily was able to use heads up display for speed, figured can monitor how much in the tank vis toyota app. Hazards and turn signals were working. As most stated, waited till 8 am next day opened the car and before starting saw icons on the screen which i figured was a positive sign, started the car screen was fine. Will report back if happens again.

As someone in the market for a 23 Pro I have to say this is the saddest thread ever. If I’m paying 80k the freaking dash better work no matter what.

New to the forum and thanks for the great information. Recently purchased a 2023 1794 and the dashboard went black at 740 miles. Returned to service 20 minutes later and 3 restarts. Fingers crossed until a perm fix.

I have a capstone for a week and got the problem within 500miles. The good news though, it came back the next day.

Just as an update to what my service guy said via text concerning the instrument cluster going black, "Toyota is aware of issues with them so there is an updated part number that is required to be installed".

They ordered new part last week, supposed to be in today or tomorrow. When i brought in my truck, my display worked fine, I was mainly in there because my truck went into limp mode after check engine light came on. That was my main concern, but I let them know about all the issues i had experienced the past 3-4 weeks with the truck.

Agreed, seems like alot of labor to replace the whole unit when it feels like it could be fixed going the software route. Again, that was not my main issues at all, more worried about CEL, but they got locked up on this deal.

The software fix is available. Had mine done 3/16 along with the 5000 mile service. Took a couple of hours.

According to my Toyota iphone app, the software update is now available. I made appointment at the dealer to get the update.. but I have to admit it makes me a little nervous. BTW, my '23 1794 Edition only blacked out twice at approx 2,000 miles and it has not blacked out it since. I'm now at 3,100 miles. There's a part of me that wants to leave well enough alone but I'm going ahead with the update tomorrow.

Mine went black this morning for the first time. 2023 Hybrid 1794 with TRD Off-Road package with 3,300 miles. Didn't realize this was a thing until I searched the forum. Let the car sit for the day and when I started it this afternoon the screen was fine.

tonytac, your experience is right in line with everyone else's. There's a software update available now from the dealer.. my dealer updated mine this past Friday.

Just had this happen on my 2023 1794, built 11/22. 8700 miles roughly.

I guess I’ll head in for an update.

Any cloth or dusting scratches the digital display glass. Anyone know if this can be replaced or ideas for small scratches? Had a lot of pollen and dust that would not blow off. Plastic x just makes it cloudy and worse as it seems to be a tinted plastic

The part number for the combination meter plastic cover is 83852-0CS70 its about 40 dollars and easy to replace. Same part for digital or analog.

Recommended if you replace it to put some screen protector film like those available from screen protect to keep it from scratching again.

If you have just fine scratches, just adding the film over the existing glass might do the trick.

How did you find the part number? Has anyone replaced for 2022,2023? I did find YouTube’s to remove trim around it. I just see the part number when search and price. Would love a picture or parts list on order site. Many part sites have a breakdown of surrounding area or overview

I dug around the parts diagrams until I found it. I'll see if I can find it again.

Yes I replaced mine due to OCD about a cleaning snafu that left mine scratched up.

You remove the bezel around the dash and it pops out with 4 screws. The glass separates from the main cluster with tabs.

Well we can replace the screens.... how do we prevent this from happening again?
Best way to clean the screen and avoid scratches?

I put a PPF type film over it and I can wipe it down without scratching now.
