I got my rear end temp gauge installed today, so my towing instrumentation is complete. I also put in a gauge for engine oil temp. I don't think I really have a potential for high engine oil temps, but I had the space for the gauge and decided it couldn't hurt to know what is going on with those temps as well. I have room for one more gauge, maybe blinker fluid level? ;-)

Bought the gauges and sending units from Speed Hut and installed. The worst part was running the wires.

No I didn't.....I hadn't seen any interest in this, so it didn't even cross my mind to do a DIY write-up.

We just got back from a 3500 mile trip in the Western US. We were in temps as high at 106* and many climbs of 7+%. I never saw temps in the differential over 200*. Prior to leaving I wanted to find out what the "high" temp was for a diff, and that was not easy. After much searching on many different topics surrounding differentials, I only found one source. Eaton fuller sets the max temp for their differentials at 250*. That seemed a reasonable high temp for me and I have chosen that to be my high temp for the Tundra. We are towing about 6500 lbs of travel trailer. So if you tow heavier and are in high temps on steep climbs, you may want to monitor your diff temps. But, if your loads are similar to what I mention or less, no need to go to the hassle of installing instrumentation on your gear oil for the diff.

That's awesome! Do you have a trans temp gauge already?
