For front and rear diff most gear oils are fine. I like Valvoline in the Flex fill bags. Makes adding the gear oil super easy.

I would do some research on the T-Case. I know that 4runners and Tacomas after a certain year require a different fluid than your normal GL5 diff fluid found these days.

I personally went with Amsoil Severe Gear 75-140w oil in the diffs (the collapsable bags), and Ravenol 75W in the T-case. Jury is still out on the Ravenol, but I've seen mostly positive things posted. I can always change it out, but the factory stuff is like $75-85 a quart (if you can find it) and requires 2 quarts. If the Ravenol doesn't work out so well, I'll go OEM on that one. Will check in a few more months to see fluid condition. The fluid that came out looked super clean (did all of this at 45K miles) but I'd also read many others when draining and refilling it was clean coming out if changed at a decent interval. I tend to spend more on maintenance, and shorter intervals for the longevity of the truck.

Ravenol 75w is what I am going to use in Tcase if I ever get to it. I changed it at 50k in Tacoma and could not tell used oil from new. Tcase oil is last thing on my list. After what I have read on this forum I would not use anything in tcase other then 75w with proper specs.

+1 for Ravenol 75w. The bottle with the long straw makes the fill up extremely easy as well.

Edit: in the T-Case that is, not the differentials.

I checked with my dealer and they use 75-90 in differentials and transfer case. They said they only use 75 when warranty is involved. I used 75-90 synthetic in all and no problems goin and out of 4 wheel drive.

Yeah and they use it out of a huge drum, which is assumed to be lower quality. Most shops use the same oil for all 3. Doesn't mean it's correct. The T case takes a different fluid per Toyota. And Toyota sells a specific T case fluid that is super expensive.

The big distinction here is GL4 oil for the T-case and GL5 for the differentials.

GL5 (hypoid gear oil) has higher levels of sulfur that can damage/corrode T-case synchronizers.

    Different oils for different applications.

Both differentials in my 14 (if I can get the fill plug out of the front) will be getting Amsoil 75 w-140 severe gear.

Seems to work in all my other rides, no problem
