Do you have a Pro unit, or know someone who does? Unless you are gassing it why would the pro unit cause you to fishtail on a slick road?

    ssls6,

The factory LSD available in 1st generation Tundra has 200ft-lb of pre-tension, the TRD/Kazuma by Eaton that I have in my 002 is pre-tensioned to 400 ft-lbs. I have not experienced any issues with wear or fish tailing, and I do not expect to experience the issues you mentioned with the PRO if I installed one in my 007.

I have never fish tailed on the road with mine. This is the 3rd winter with it. Also it has never been squirrelly in corners, going in or coming out.

Fish tailing can be controlled with the gas pedal. I would take that everyday over an open diff that just sits still in some conditions

    How much?

I'd prefer the PowerTrax but just got off the phone and the guy said May 10th.

I spoke with a few differential shops today about getting an Auburn unit installed in my truck. All the shops I called said they have been hearing for years about Powertrax coming out with a gear type posi unit. So, sounds like there has been many delays and I don't want to wait any longer.

Yeah, I'm guessing they are experiencing serious durability issues that are delaying the release.

Does anyone know of a shop in Tennessee they would trust to install an Auburn Unit?

One thing all must take into consideration running a Auburn Pro or non Pro is that when driving on very iced roads along with black ice, the rear of the truck will come around much faster because (if not paying attention) you are now providing power to both wheels. As for the life of the clutch type differential it depends on how you drive it. It won't last long if you like doing alot of circles and figure 8s in a parking lot. The clutch type posi has been around for a long time, this article should clear up a few things.

And yes the Auburn Pro does come with additive. 20180924_202140.jpg

Unfortunately, the pro only comes with one bottle (6 ounces) of the additive and 2 bottles (12 ounces) are required.

For some reason mine came with two bottles and added it after I did a 500+ miles and changed the oil.

I wouldn't worry to much about the friction modifier directly from Auburn, I've been using Ford/Motorcraft XL3 friction modifier for years in all sorts of LSD's and never had a issue. I'b be shocked if Auburn had a "custom" blend made for their unit.

I'm not too worried but would hate to have to buy more when it should come with the correct amount needed.

I will call and see if they all come with 2 bottles.

I know you are supposed to use a non-synthetic gear oil with the Auburn unit. I have synthetic gear oil in their now and was worried about my mechanic not being able to get it all out during the installation of the Auburn unit. My mechanic tells me not to worry because he believes he will get about 90-95% of the synthetic out of the housing and it will be so diluted with the non-synthetic that I shouldn't have any issues.

Now, I'm back on the hunt for the best price available.

This is what accumulated after sitting a few days.
    20191101_174213.jpg
I removed it with lint free rags and cleaned up the rest of the housing. 20191101_181250.jpg
Then put a thin coat of silicone on both sides of the new gasket, nuts and threads for my salt happy DOT workers.
    20191104_200534.jpg
Then a quick coat of flat black and later with a quick coat of Amsoil MP 40.

Received my Auburn Pro and Carrier Bearings today from Just Differentials. Hope nothing is broken based on the packaging. And there was no additive in the box. Looks like I need to contact Just Differentials and complain. Auburn Gear told me there should be 2 bottles of additive included.
