It's here! First delivery of the morning, brought down from Georgia. Driver unloaded into the back of my Tundra then helped me put it under the carport. This was because the pallet jack was having trouble on the rough, uneven ground. Maybe an untapped market for ProEagle? :)

The new smooth finish looks very cool. I’ve had an SE for 3 years, never in a garage and living in the PNW. I’ve put it through some paces. The unit is stout, versatile, secure, and has held up well. Personally, I think the tie down cleats are essential. One of the maybe under-appreciated aspects is that one guy can easily remove it if you need to use the whole bed for hauling, etc. I had a Leer fiberglass canopy before this. The Leer was heavy, definitely a two-person operation to remove AND had to find a place to store the canopy when not in use. Everything was a PITA with that thing. The DB is also way more secure. It could be pried but would take some time and effort. My DB does leak in several places but I think that could be because the plastic bed rail covers are pretty worked over and let’s face it, it rains here A LOT. The original hinges and hardware had a finish/rust problem that diamondback remedied by sending everyone all new and improved hinges and hardware. That was excellent service. Overall I’m a huge fan of the product and the company and if/when I get another truck will definitely cover the bed with a diamondback.

I've had my SE on my 2002 AC for a few weeks. Only one real rain and blow day, but no leaks at all. The Crossbin8 stores a LOT of stuff and keeps it dry. Two weeks after the installation (by a local shop), one center section rail clamp was loose and the others took another turn on their bolts. The cover had not shifted.

I love my cover so far. Best security/storage mod for me.

I had a lumber rack on my F250. Anyone run a headache rack or ladder rack on their diamonback covers? The Diamonback brand headache rack doesn't look good to me. Anyone know if any other companies have compatible products? Preferably removable lumber rack?

My SE has been on for about a month, leak free. The company advises that center section clamp bolts be tightened after 100 miles, which we did. One clamp bolt was loose and the other three took another turn. Today, I put up to another turn on all four. No shifting has occurred. Heads up on keeping these tight. I use iPhone reminders for all sorts of stuff and have added a monthly one to check these bolts. 9/16" hex heads, easily accessible when standing by the bed with panels open.

Yeah that’s a bastard eh! I have the G2 and same issue. Plus the locking mech for each fold freezes up. Me out there in -25 plus a nasty wind with a heat gun frantically thawing it out as I promised I’d pick something big up that evening by a certain time. Also, the diagonal struts that fall into the box often until you locktite them and of course the locking knob stripping out. It does look sharp and nice to operate from just one side. But as now kaput after 7 years I’m going to try an xtang solid fold 2.0

I’ve had this for a little over a month now, hd smooth finish.

I’ve got the 8 inch cross bin that holds my straps, jack, air compressor and various junk. When I picked up my c4 bumper it went right on top, guy looked at me funny when I told him to load the pallet on top.

Glad I got the cleats pre installed I’ve used them to tie down a bunch and I’ll be using the front ones to hold fork mounts for mountain bikes.

Does anyone know if DB sells the mounting clamps separately? I want to buy a used HD but the mounting is for the non-deck rail system, so it clamps to the bed rail, NOT the deck-rail. I think the clamps are different after looking at install guides.

Yes they do. I ordered a set of the bed rail clamps separately.

IIRC they include different rod brackets to account for the added distance from the top of the bed to the rail. I don't remember what they charged.

Not sure if this helps anyone. I’m buying a used DB hd, couple years old. Have read about people having leaks where the clamps go, under the bed rail cap. Instead of ordering the rubber shims from DB that go under the cap, I did this.

bought some 1/8” thick neoprene rubber 3’x10’ and silicone adhesive. The rubber is siliconed to the cap and not the rail. 86EFA149-2767-47B2-825C-F1F8C13BA628.jpg 458DCD5F-6CDE-4620-8059-9B3435D63E04.jpg 710BE85F-7CC6-45FC-AA62-BCB1CFD8CDCB.jpg 9170E3BD-24A3-4D36-A864-D13132D308E9.jpg

In regards to the DB cover, I have the HD model, and the cab panel’s locking mechanism is spring loaded, whereas the tailgate panel is not.

Is this standard on the DB covers, or did they forget to install the spring on my tailgate panel?

I sold my Tundra and kept my Diamondback HD cover. It fits a 07/13 2nd gen and comes with the 8" crossbin and side boxes. About 2 years old and like new. Check it out in the for sell section.

I would say they forgot to install the springs. Call them and I'm sure they will take care of you.

I actually called them and asked and it turns out it’s a safety feature. They had customers open the cab panel, do some work or walk away, and close the hatch but forget to lock/latch it, so they made it spring loaded as another safety feature (or at least a motion that requires the user to turn the lock to the open position in order to get it to fully seal, since it’s spring loaded to the closed position).

Because if not properly latched, that cab panel will catch some serious air and mess some things up on your truck, and possibly someone behind you.

I’ve had my HD for about a year now and noticed that the weight/pressure of the cover on the plastic bed rail and tailgate caps has caused the caps to rub into the clear coat/paint in several spots along the edges. As you drive around the bed flexes enough that there’s a little movement. Something to keep an eye on.

I pulled my cover and caps off today, touched up a few spots with paint, then added some weather stripping in a few spots on the underside of the caps to lift the edge up slightly so there’s no more contact. I did have the rubber stick on spacers installed from the very beginning that support the center portion of the cover, too.

Does anyone have the HD cab guard and tall cover mount rack and could comment on pros/cons? I’d like to haul pelican cases/cooler, fat tire bikes and on a rarer occasion a canoe up top.

I don’t personally have it, but you could always hit up Diamondback direct, their customer service is top notch and I’d be willing to bet they’ll shoot you straight on the good & bad.

They're well built. Only Issue I had was when I broke one of the rear struts while packing truck full of debris without taking cover off. Diamondback sent a replacement free of charge.

I wouldn't buy any cover again though. Since selling both trailers I end up needing the open bed more. Been sitting in garage unused for 6months of the year that I've owned it. Been meaning to list it. Not a knock on diamondback specifically - just think about how often you'll need to remove it.

On the plus side the Diamondback cross bin is wide enough to store maxtrax in the bottom flat.

Nice! How thick is the seal on the cover? The previous owner had something clamped to bed rails/caps and the plastic is wavy. Thinking I may need to replace the caps.

The bed rail caps are quite poorly designed. The constant pressure causes them to look wavy because the caps only touch the bed sides on thin spines running lengthwise and crosswise every few inches. Diamondback includes dense rubber spacers with adhesive on one side to help support the cover around the clamping area. They go on the underside of the plastic caps.

Thank you! I did some more searching after seeing your reply and found a thread on here about to remove bed caps.

    Too many, but not enough....
I recently put on my HD and I love it! Not sure if it was covered in this thread but i see alot of people seem to have an issue with how tight the clamps are for the middle section. I talked to tech support about this and they advised to torque the clamp bolts to 6 ft lbs and check them every so often when you first put it on. I also did use the shim kit and had my brother stand in the middle of the panel, 180 lbs, and 2 40 lb salt bags in each corner, when i tightened the clamps. I also left 3 40 lb bags of salt on each panel for going on 4 days now and the seal looks pretty well compressed and seated. I havent siliconed yet, will see if its necessary first.

I ordered my smooth SE this past Sunday hoping I'd have it in time to install it the holiday weekend. It arrived Thursday and I got it on Friday evening. Absolutely love it.
