That's odd. It sounds like the panel is warped.

Tacomas used an extension on the end of the track for the locking rods. On the Tundra the track goes far enough towards the tailgate for the locking rods on the cover to engage without any additional parts.

Somehow (either in shipping or even when I was installing it) the cover got tweaked. They told me to leave the cover mounted, unhook the gas struts, and then with another person holding the other corner give the cover a quick flex in the direction it needed to be corrected. It didn't take much force at all to get it to where it needed to be. Super easy.

I think your wait is the present standard. I ordered an SE a month ago and have another week or so to wait.

E122091C-93E1-42DD-B56B-3806315B5E2A.jpg I lucked out recently. I had an Undercover Flex on my 16 Pro. It served me well but the hardware has rusted one too many times and I was tired of screws pulling out. I’ve been looking for used Diamondback HD in good condition for about a year with no luck. I figured why spend $2500 if I can get it half price on someone trading in and pulling their parts off. Fast forward, I see a guy selling a Diamondback HD with tool box insert ($300 additional ) on Craigslist in an adjoining state. So we are talking $2800 value, a year old, and he is selling for $650. One problem, he has an 18 F-150 short-bed that he is trading in and although a different make and model still 5.5 ft. Will it fit? I call Diamondback and research F150 bed dimensions. Turns out that bed is 1 1/4 inch longer and Tundra bed is .5 wider. Diamondback tells me they haven’t had anyone try it but it likely won’t fit because they are feathered differently. I have the seller measure the cover and then I measure my truck bed. Seems like it should fit. Diamondback says what the hell give it a shot at that price and were very helpful advising me that I would need different C clamps because of the bed rail system. I’m thinking screw it, at this price even if it doesn’t fit, I have 5 friends with F-150’s that will want it and if not I will sell for a profit on FB marketplace. So, me and my brother in law take the 2.5 hour ride expecting that because of the C clamps I wouldn’t be able to put it on and would just bring it home and wait for the Tundra clamps. Moment of truth, we get there, it is in perfect condition, take it off his truck and put it on mine. Fits like a glove . Adjust the locking rods ✅. Now I’m thinking let’s try these C clamps just for hahas. Turns out the adjustable bolt not long enough to allow for the clamp to get under the rail system. Off to the hardware store to buy longer bolts. 30 minutes later the cover is firmly on my truck and looking great. Ride back home at 75mph not one issue, secure just like I left it. Road salt all over my truck so I go through the car wash and check the bed after. Bone dry, oh my The C clamp isn’t ideal and has some wiggle but new ones specific to Tundra will be installed. I am one happy camper right now.

Yeah sure was. $28 investment for C clamps is not hard to swallow. I hope this info can help someone else looking to do the same thing.

The extra length is great - means you can overlap the cab side a bit more and still get plenty of tailgate coverage. And the half inch less width may also help, as the main seal will probably sit in the shallow channels on the plastic bed rail caps instead of channeling any water in towards the bed.

    Can’t beat that price, either!

It has rained twice heavy and snowed once and not a drop in the bed. The cover leaves about 1/4 to 1/2 inch gap of visible bed trim all the way around so everything is essentially covered.

When they replaced mine due to leaking I should have asked for an F150 model!

Not like before, no. However I noticed that when it gets cold out, like mid 30s, the seal around the two panels doesn’t compress as nicely into the four shallow channel gaps on the plastic bed rail caps, which are a few inches towards the front/rear from the center support on both sides. I was getting a little dribble at those locations which I couldn’t pinpoint until I put a really bright light in the bed at night, then walked around and could see the light leak at those spots. I can’t tighten the locking rod brackets any more - it’s pretty darn hard to lock/unlock the panels.

As a test I cut a few pieces of thick electrical tape, stacked them until the same depth as the channels, and applied it in the channels. No more light leak, and no more dribble. I’ll have to find something more permanent, perhaps a tiny bead of silicone across those four spots.

Everybody is swearing by these and that they are worth the money. I placed my order this past weekend with a delivery date of March 12. I can't believe I am spending over $2k for a bed cover. Good thing I don't have a wife to bitch at me. ;)

So I’ve read through all 27 pages of this thread and finally pulled the trigger on the HD version. My truck was broken into while staying at a hotel on our way down to FL last week so that pushed me over the edge on this decision. Looking forward to having some relatively secured space within the vehicle.
My question is regarding some of the pictures posted on this thread. In several, it appears the front portion nearest to the cab does not sit flat, it has a slight upward angle. And in others it does look flat. On the ones that aren’t flat, is that just the seals needing to compress or have they been installed improperly?

The owners haven’t tightened the locking rod brackets enough. It should be flat or even angled down slightly toward the cab and tailgate for maximum seal.

Mine are ever so slightly tilted up - it may be from over tightening the center section thus compressing the seal there. My locking rods are plenty tight, any more and i'd have to sit on the cover to lock it, and the center section is no longer super tight, just snug, which leads to the ends flaring up ever so slightly. No leaking from the cover at all.

Well, now my replacement cover is leaking at the front cab corners, on the wheel wells under the center, and water is following the little track on the cap before dripping into the bed about 6” from the tailgate on the right side.

Locking rods are very tight, seal is compressed, center support is snug but not over tightened. I also have silicone under the bed caps at the front cab ends.

    This is getting silly.

That is so weird. Thursday I drove 800 miles from Washington to SE Idaho through all kinds of weather (it was -10 thorough parts of MT) and then ran it through a car wash to get all the road grime off the truck. Checked inside, all dry. I sure hope you get this figured out.

Do you see any light when you look inside? I know with my bed I can see light between the bulkhead and sides (on the bed, the cover has nothing). This is so weird and has me questioning the truck bed, not the cover.

Still loving my SE. Doesn't really draw much attention unless you have it up then people start asking questions. Way better than any other cover I've had before. Totally worth the $$$.

I’m waiting for my tundra pro to be built. I’m new here. Anyone tell me with the cover it locks but you also need the Toyota tail gate lock installed correct.

The tailgate from factory requires the key to lock - you can get either an OEM remote lock added on or get an aftermarket one, they both work with the key fob based on the passenger doors.
