Please update as things progress. I read every page of this thread and was ready to order until I got to your problem. I have the same caps and don't want to have the same problem. I am not going to order until you get this resolved.

As it turns out, the replacement arrived yesterday and I installed it today. I don’t know if it will resolve the leaking issue, but it’s supposed to rain this coming week. I’ll post an update as soon as it does.

It rained Sunday through Monday morning. I’m happy to report that the new cover didn’t leak at all.

Diamondback sent an Estes freight truck to pick up the old one this afternoon.

Each panel has a gasket seal around the outside edge, which ends near the center panel. When you close the panels the edge of this seal butts up against a similar seal on the center support, all of which lay on the bed rails. It seems like there is a much tighter fit at all four corners of the center support between the seals.

Great thread guys! I'm expecting a DB 270 by mid February and can't wait to install it on my 2014 DC. I've been wondering if you added a gasket along the top of the cab rail. The side rail caps are slightly higher which leads me to think the panels will be compressed tighter on the sides leaving a gap along the cab. Also did you add a tail gate gasket? Again, great thread, great pictures.

I have a spray in bedliner and did not add the included gasket on the cab rail. I have not had any leaking at the cab side despite the bed sides being slightly higher, both with my old cover (which leaked at the center support), and new cover. The seal on the cover is fairly thick and soft, so it fills the gaps. I also position it pretty far forward.

I don't see any reason to add a gasket on the tailgate, either.

Great, thanks. I have a spray I'm liner too. I can always add it later, if I get a leak.

Also, make sure you check the four center panel clamps every few days for the first couple weeks when you install it. As the brand new seals compress on top of the bed rails you’ll find that the clamps need to be snugged up a little.

Yes, thanks. I saw that suggested in a few of the installation videos. I should get delivery in a month or so. I can't wait get it on and start organizing my equipment. On occasion, I'll be hauling plywood or drywall on top and I'm concerned how the handles will get in the way. Not wanting to risk damaging them, I'm considering adding risers to support the load above the handles but not sure what is most practical. Considering DB round pipe accessory used for ATV ramps.

My DB also will arrive next month (it is fervently to be hoped). I think the easiest way to raise a flat load above the hinges, locks, etc, is 2 or 3 lengths of dimensional lumber, ie, 2x4s.

Agree. And I won't have to drill any holes and risk leaks. Good idea for occasional use.

Pulled the trigger tonight on a bare aluminum HD with the Front Runner rack system for my RTT. I went back and forth on getting the black but decided the extra $320 for black was better spent on the rack system. Plus if I got the black I would then really want to do a complete chrome delete for the truck so the actual savings is quite a bit more considering what I would have spent for the black out. The bare aluminum should look good with my MGM Tundra. Ship date is estimated for February 25th. Time for patience.

Know the feeling. I'm expecting delivery around Feb. 15. There's a lot I want to do once it's installed.

We have had a couple more days of rain overnight, plus I did a fair bit of highway driving in the rain, and there hasn’t been any water making entry. The new cover has definitely resolved the leaking issue.

My wife got me the HD for Christmas. Installed and love it so far with the snow here in norcal. Only issue is the cab side panel sits at an upward angle. When I positioned the latch to make the panel sit lower (level), I couldn't get it to latch because there is no downward pressure on the passenger side. Anyone else have this problem or have a solution?

Mine has the same problem. Let me know how you fix it because it pisses me off. I had to go stand on it to close it if I wanted it flat and that’s not gonna happen.

Usually this means the center panel is too tight. Did you both install the shims on the underside of the bed rail caps?

I haven't installed my 270 DB yet, but I've searched and researched installation videos and manuals to death. I agree the center panel may be tightened too much. I've seen videos of installations where the end product has the center panel weatherstripping compressed very tight and the cab panel is is locked slightly upright.

Yes, I've installed the spacers. I backed off the center clamps a bit with no luck. Don't want to back it off too much.

    A bunch
You don't need a bunch of pressure on the center clamps - mine backed completely off at one point and it stayed put. I know have them lightly clamped where they stay put even with a little twisting and then tape up the threads to ensure they don't back off again. There's still a slightly angle but that takes looking very closely to see it, passing by it's not noticeable.

Delivered this morning, installed this afternoon. Took my son and I a bit to install the shims under the caps. Temperature is in the low 40's so took our time to not damage the clips removing the caps.

Got it installed this afternoon.... Looks nice and went on fairly quickly. I will have to see how it does with the incoming weather here.

Edit: And just in case others are wondering about my install:

    1) Yes, I did use the shims. No problems pulling the bedrail covers off (well, sore fingers, but no broken parts). They definitely felt stronger in the shim area and a bit "squishy" in the non-shimmed area when reinstalling.

    2) No, I do not have a spray in bedliner. I have a BedRug, but it has 0 impact on the install as it is simply up to the bedrails inside.

    3) At this time, I did not use the front (cab side edge) weatherstrip. The directions mentioned to have someone push down the front and back panels while adjusting the lock rod positioning brackets, so I did do that. I did not have a gap at the front (cab side) edge that I could see. It is a bit tough to close the panels at the moment but directions said it should settle in a few days. We will see how that goes.

    Hope that helps!

Well, I spoke too soon. I do have water coming in on the right side from the rear cover. I will check my adjustments tomorrow but that same side of the cover doesn't close like the left side. When closing the cover the left side evenly mates to the bedside, the right side has to be pushed down about another 3/4 inch to get the latch to close.

Both covers look great. Curious what you you found out about the leak. I read some DB reviews and occasionally a panel gets warped in the shipping process due to temperature variations. Seems like DB can coach you through a remedy or maybe replace the panel. Do your locking rods side into a tie down track or a rod bracket that installs into the end of the track? The brackets look sloped to compress the gasket when locked. Either way, if the panel is warped, you'd still need to press the corner down to engage the lock. Still waiting for my 270 delivery.
