Any feedback how reliable they are?

Vs a topper like ARE or Leer.

    Thanks in Advance.

They are the best hard cover, water tight, no drain tube needed, and it’s a vault when locked, I got it on 19 and it hold up to what ever I throw on it.

No issues with mine once I got it dialed in. Takes some adjustments to get it right, but once it's set it's awesome.

They make them 20 miles from my house. You can pull a 4-wheeler on top of them. A little salty price wise, but they are the best. And cool looking also.
Side note on the company. Work week is 35hrs, but get paid for 40. Friday being a short day with lunch provided.

I have one, and will ONLY buy DiamondBack for any truck I get in the future. The HD version has a 1600lbs load capacity on top. There are a ton of accessories available.

I got rid of my camper shell to get one. No regrets at all. There aren’t many around in my area and everyone does a double take.

Hands down the best hard cover for your bed; the only complaint I have is that they don't make it clear in the instructions that you need to place shims under the bed rail caps. I guess it's included in a separate instruction sheet, but they aren't mentioned at all in the main instructions which is kind of frustrating.

I was trying to decide if I wanted a Leer or ARE Camper Shell. ARE and Leer are both 6 months out wait times.

DB advises my Cover will be shipped in 3 weeks.

Question: Is a Camper Shell any better than a DB Cover? I understand the Toppers have fitment issues, not totally secure from theft, long wait times to get one.

The DB that I had on a previous truck was not watertight. Even after I stared adding weather stripping it would leak. Glad to see others don’t have that issue, but I did.
A tonneau cover and cap are two different beasts. The cover is going to be more secure and not weigh as much. A cap provides more room for gear and in my experience a more waterproof solution (although I have had them leak too).
It all depends on your primary needs. Given the availability and ease of removal, I’d go with the DB.

Where was your DB leaking? I haven't heard of anyone having that issue if they followed the weather stripping instructions.

They're two totally different beasts. I see everything I keep in my bed under my DiamondBack as more secure than the things I keep in my cab - same can't be said for Camper Shells.

Like Californian said, they’re two different types. The DB is fantastic, but your security is limited to what you can fit underneath. You can secure stuff to the top, but it’s left up there with little to no security. A topper isn’t as secure as the DB, but allows for more cargo storage.

Around the center mount section. This was ten years ago and I don’t remember DB having any guidance to follow. I just winged it. Maybe there has been a redesign since then.

I'd go out on a limb and say Truck Covers USA is the best truck bed cover on the market. Certainly the most expensive. Really depends on your use of the truck cover.

I honestly don't think you can even compare the two, especially if you're trying to compare the HD to the American Roll Cover. The HD can carry 1600lbs on top of it - the American Roll Cover tops out at 500lbs. That would lead me to believe the American Roll Cover can be breached somewhere above 500lbs. As for the price, the DiamondBack HD comes in more than any of the Truck Covers USA offerings - unless you're adding on toolboxes and whatnot.

When you get a diamond back HD, the bed becomes the toolbox.

Yup, which is why I said it depends on your use. I don't know or see too many people driving around with ATVs or sleds on the top of their diamondback. 500lbs is no small load and I walk on my cover all the time. it's definitely nice having a toolbox (diamondback only comes with a bin). Unless you have super long arms it must be hard grabbing things in the middle of the bed towards the front. Sure is nice being able to quickly retract the cover, hop into the bed and grab whatever you need. Especially when you have a toolbox and need to rummage to the bottom to grab what you need. Or when you just need to use the whole bed to move furniture. I dunno, guess my uses are different than most.

edit: I’m also very proud of my truck cover. Kinda weird and not sure why, but I am. Probably because I fabbed up some pieces for it

Hands down best thing I’ve purchased for the truck was the diamondback and a cross bin. Mine has had no water issues but did have some rattling that I fixed with some metal caulk between the cross supports.

I had one before I switched it out for my current cover. Good cover for what it does and will keep nearly all water out as it has a lip on it that goes over the bed rail. Don’t expect to put much above the bed rail line using one of those covers due to their design and it can be a PITA to access things in the front of the bed. Also is really a two man job taking it on and pulling it off; if you don’t have another person chances are pretty high you’ll end up scratching your bed somewhere as they’re just awkward to handle. Their weakness is that after repeated use their rivets will eventually pull though from the hinge mechanism as it’s just riveted into plastic. In order to drill out the rivet to re-rivet you need to drill a hole in the cover and then patch up the hole (remelt plastic).

I’ve had my DB SE for about 3 years and really like it. No leaks, rattles or anything like that. I have no experience with camper shells/toppers, so I can’t really compare.

I do haul big, tall stuff on occasion, though, so removing the 3-piece Diamondbak is a pretty easy, one-man job compared to what I believe would be a much heavier, cumbersome camper shell/topper. But at the same time, camping/sleeping in a camper shell definitely sounds way more convenient if that suits your needs better. For me, I wanted the ability to keep my stuff/gear dry, secure and out of sight, and the DB meets those requirements effectively. I do like to camp, though, and often wonder how neat it would be to be able to throw an air mattress back there and camp out under a camper shell sheltering from the rain.

Please post pics with the guard on. I was thinking about getting one and maybe wiring up some chase lights to it but I haven’t seen pics of it on a tundra
