Great thanks for the information! I normally hand wash my truck was just looking at the foam cannons as an easier/faster way to do it. I will pass on the foam cannons then.

Lots of people like them. I’m just not into them. I’m always looking to effectively cut out steps not add them unless the benefits are really good. When I coat a vehicle with good paint I think I’m already at 14 steps.

I use them when there’s a ton of caked on mud and dirt. I spray the foam in, let it soak a while, then rinse off. Then I do a hand wash.
A foam cannon can be used for regular washes though. It’s actually a pretty efficient way of doing it, since you don’t make as many trips back and forth to the bucket. My main reason for not using them more regularly is because my favorite soap doesn’t work well with them.

If you want to try one out, get a cheap one from Amazon. The MATCC is the one several of us use. Absolutely no reason to get an expensive one. My 20 dollar cannon has lasted several years now.

If you look up “MATCC Foam Cannon” on Amazon, there’s actually several being offered on Prime Day deals right now. The one I use is actually 13 bucks right now.

Well Jason thanks now I might have to purchase another thing on prime day. Yesterday wore me out. But for $13 why not. I actually have kinda wanted one for presoak after a trip through the mud.

Technically griots 3-1 has wax in it so I guess I use that. I’m a sealant guy my trucks are outside 24/7 so I go for protection. I do use 3d one it is a aio and I really like that on some cars. But I always top it with something. @Damie Street

What pressure washer do you guys recommend?
Sorry for all the questions just recently got into detailing the truck. And it's been a deep rabbit hole. But thanks to @Swfltoyomafia I think I'm getting a routine figured out.

I started with a foam gun.....and then added the foam cannon. I still use both....probably the gun more, but the cannon is still a big part of the arsenal. It does require some effort, but once I get my wall-mounted pressure washer set up.....the foam cannon will come out a lot more. I like it when using a prewash, and truthfully, it's just fun. If you own a pressure washer, invest in a foam cannon. You do not have to spend a ton of money on one....there are dozens on Amazon.

For those who own harbor freight pressure washers, this nice little attachment made it 10000% better, especially for foam cannon. Can use sprayer attachments too.

Whats the purpose of "Decon with ironx" then using claybar with speed shine... as I thought that is a decontamination process itself?

Ironx will get and I’m gonna guess 50-80% of contaminants off the surface. Clay and speed will get the rest depending on your efforts.

The decontamination process is made up of two parts....chemical and mechanical. Chemical portion would be the Iron-X (or similar product), intended to remove iron particles from your vehicle. The mechanical portion is the clay bar/mitt, intended to remove the other types of contaminants from your vehicle.

Related question, not product specific. I see a lot of references to drying aid or rinse aid, but I haven't found how to use something as one of those.

I've never used anything as a 'rinse aid', but I've used spray wax as a drying aid. Basically, you spray it on and then dry as normal. Here is a link to a video by Dave at Apex Detail....he can explain it much better than I can:
