When I bought new tires and wheels 2 years ago, I bought new Denso TPM sensors from Amazon and America’s Tire installed them, but they couldn’t get the light to go out. They told me it was because the spare had a bad sensor. I ordered another Denso TPMS, but never installed it. I finally got a matching wheel & full size used tire installed. That tire shop didn’t have a programmer, so when I went to America’s Tire today for my rotate & Balance, they were unable to program the spare. They told me the spare kept duplicating to the left rear tire. They asked me the sensor brand and when I told them Denso, they said they weren’t in their system? Anyone run into this? I read that Pacific Industries makes the Denso? Any thoughts other than disabling the TPMS light, I prefer it working. Thx.

I ran into a similar situation - I replaced my steel wheels with TRD Pro alloy wheels and bought new OEM sensors. My local tire shop couldn’t program them. I ended up having them install their stock sensors (Autel) and they installed and programmed just fine.

Luckily I was able to return the OEM sensors. I could have gone to my Toyota Dealer for the programming for a small fortune I’m sure.

I’ve been running with these sensors for a while and no issues.

I think different shops have different programmers for TPMS sensors and they’re not universal.

So if purchased my tires from Americas Tire and had them installed on my new wheels including there TPMS sensors, the og sensor on the spare will not be recognized?.

I have had discount tire program my original tire sensors before.

I have also purchased second hand OEM Toyota rims and tires with sensors in them.

    Discount programmed those as well

I am not sure what the issue is

It did take a few tries for the tech to work the handheld computer properly but after that no issues

I don’t know about the spare TPMS sensor - I suspect it isn’t recognized after swapping over sensors. Not a big deal to me since the spare is for emergencies anyways.

Problem is if they can’t program the spare, the TPMS light never goes out. I’ll try a different America’s Tire. If they can’t program them, I wasted a bunch of money. I’ll have them use theirs on my next tire change, but that’s probably another year. What I can’t understand is they say that Denso is not in their system.

I’ve read newer Tundras (2018+) don’t have a TPMS sensor in the spare. I’ve actually not verified this on my 2019 (yet).

Confirmed: Per the owners manual for my 2019, no TPMS sensors in the spare.

(yet another reminder to self: RTFM!)
