Delayed, delayed again, etc.

After being built on 12/10 and being in qc hold since 12/21, the dealer is showing that my truck will be here on the 29th

 

Had my 4runner in for an oil change this morning and asked my service advisor about the new Tundra. He said they've had 6 come in and all were spoken for. Also said all 6 have come back with transmission and turbo problems. He said Toyota is slowing/stopping delivery until they have all current issues figured out. Also said to expect delay in hybrid release until non-hybrid issues are sorted. I know that's anecdotal and I don't expect that he's "dialed in", but take it for what it's worth.

 

You should probably hope and pray that it is delayed for about another 18 months so they can fix the War & Peace novel of issues so far

 

what dealer is that as it sounds like might be mine. Please advise!

Issues with new Gens happens with most companies but hopefully problems get ironed out. Maybe with the slow roll out of the Tundra will help out in the long run when building the rigs are not slowed down by sluggish production and delivery.

I clicked on this thinking it was about stolen cats.
I'm going on 9 weeks without my Tundra with no ETA of delivery in sight...

 

I put in deposit at the dealer on 12/11. They found me a TRD sport premium, advance tech package, premium audio package, heated steering wheel, PVM/BSM mirror, spray on bed liner on 12/19. Then it was built 1/7, original build date was 1/3. It switched to free status on 1/20 with delivery date of Feb 9-14.

 

I have a feeling it will be a year possibly two before anything Toyota or anything else automobile related will get back to semi normal. It is a mess, the problems are one thing then add everything on top of that and you get major setbacks. Every day now there is something new popping up with an explanation as to yet another stone in the road!!

oh ya!!! one good note, I read an article that Chevrolet is getting after their dealerships and telling them to knock off the BS with the market adjustment crapolla!!!!

 

What does the msrp of the vehicle have to do with you waiting? Did you pay for it already?

 

It wasn’t about MSRP. It was about whether you’d rather have paid for the vehicle (or be making payments on it) while waiting for it to be repaired OR would you rather wait on a vehicle you haven’t paid for while QC issues are resolved. Maybe I’m misunderstanding your questions.

 

well I am still waiting still no idea what’s going on with my truck. Still no answers from dealer. Still no eta when it will be here. It’s irritating seeing trucks built after mine getting to dealer before mine

 

How are you able to check the ETA on your Tundra? I just put in an order earlier this month, was told it will be like 4-5 months.

 

My build date for my 22 Camry XSE. End of January. I’m also getting the same time frame as I had with my 21 tundraPro .

 

All 6 came back with issues? I find this hard to believe.

Just reporting what I was told. As mentioned, I can't vouch for anything he said, but I can't imagine a service advisor would be saying that if it isn't true as it's not exactly the kind of thing you'd say to a customer to excite them.

 

I have a 4th build slip date now from 1/26, to 2/2, to 2/8 and as of today it's now 2/10.

 

I just got a text from my dealer saying mine is coming 2/4. next Friday ! whoo hoo

 

Build dates of 1/10; 1/24; 1/26 and imagine will get a text with the new date here shortly.

**** update- Unit rolled out of the factory today. ETA to Nashville a wag as of now.

Apparently Toyota announced they are shutting down 50% of the Tundra production. I would think they won't be shipping any trucks unless they have figured out what is wrong and are ensuring they aren't sending out more trucks that will just end up back in the shop.

 

Update: talked to my dealer today build date was 11/12. Truck is still on QC hold. Dealer said all their trucks have been held up by QC.

Mine went from a build date of 01/31 to 02/25, super frustrating. Nothing the dealer can do about it they have been great.

 

Just a plain sr crewmax 4x4. No packages. The truck was already allocated to dealer and built prior to placing my deposit.

 

My build date is also 1/31, checking with dealer today. SR5 CrewMax 6.5'. It's frustrating since I put a preorder in mid September

Edit: Salesman told me it is showing 2/9 build as of today

1794 I ordered was built 12/2 with estimated delivery 12/24-12/31

On 12/27 status changed to delayed for QC with no estimated arrival. GM called the plant early January and was told 'it's being held for a part' but plant would not share what the part was. Still no estimated delivery.

 

Salesman checked again today 2/7, build date is still 2/9 (SR5 CrewMax 6.5' TRD OR)
