Being an Apple guy myself, I asked around with a few people and a neighbor had an old one just sitting around. Its a LG large phone. You can see it over in the other thread.

I’m sure if you asked around someone would gladly give their oldie to you. Free! Make sure to get there cords, too.

If you cant find a friend with a old droid phone to donate, try your local pawn or thrift shop. you could probably pickup something much cheaper that will work just fine. i upgraded recently and my old samsung with a 5" screen works fine.

Facebook market place or craigslist. I used my old work phone that had been laying around in my desk for the last two years (Galaxy S6). Works great.

I have a kindle fire I use with a 10" screen. $35 CL pickup. As long as your device you choose to use has bluetooth it will pair with most OBD2 devices. I use the VeePeak and it works seemlessly with the kindle.

Will the Torque app run on a Kindle?

I'll have to look but I don't think I saw torque for the kindle in the app store. I use OBD2 Fusion which is identical to torque. They have all the same PIDs and the Fusion app has a Toyota download that gives you a few more PIDs like trans temps.

I read on the reviews that its possible, but not easy. You’ll have to jump through hoops to make it happen. Go read the 17,457 reviews on BxFx on Big Gurrl and you’ll learn about it.

Don’t do it. Just get an Android Device and BxFx.
