The Icons on my 4runner are incredible and have to be rebuilt about every 45k miles...keep that in mind...often forgotten or never considered...all RR shocks will need it...:crapstorm:

I just put ADS 2.5's w/ clickers on my truck and initial impressions are good. The only thing I'm not crazy about is how the front resi mounts. They are very close to the tire at full lock, which kinda ruins my plans to upgrade to 35's. I think the way the Icon resis mount like in the post above would be better. Something to keep in mind if you're still on the stock wheels. IMG_20210124_154249697_HDR.jpg

I had 35’s on my 2014 Tundra with ADS shocks. No issues with contact resi. I also had Method Double Standards in a 17” with 0 offset. Offset on wheels plays a big role for clearence with everything.

what part of Texas do you live in @bkdelux ? If you are coastal I'd stay away from Kings, I had them on my last truck, and absolutely loved their performance, but had problems with their shafts pitting, they really are pretty far behind Fox when it comes to corrosion resistance. If you live in West Texas and never deal with coast salt or snow salt that may be less of a problem. I put AccuTune Fox 2.5s on the new truck. LOVE them.

Kings have been on my mod list for some time now (and will likely stay on the list for a while because they're expensive), but didn't know they had rust issues until reading this thread. Is a light spray of Fluid Film doable on them? I'd think it'd be fine to spray the springs, but spraying the shocks would prob be pointless as it'd get rubbed off.

I didn't get the Fox coilovers with my BDS lift, but the rear shocks (believe Fox) that came with the lift started pitting in no time. Not too bad. I'll try FF on them.

Edit: I'm in Northern Virginia that uses salt in some areas. Will be moving to Colorado - where I hear salt is used.

@Uhhhh.... it's the King Shafts that are the problem. the springs rust a bit but that's no big deal. When the shafts start pitting you have leaks all of a sudden.

I don't know how BDS specs the 2.0s they put in wit their kits, by buddy had them on his f150 and went to the normal specd 2.5s and they were a lot better.

I hosed my rear shocks off after every trip to the beach and salt water boat launch, they still pitted within 2 years.

I went with Falcon. With your explanation of what you will be doing I think the others are overkill. I was in the same boat and went Falcon.
Now if they would just get here. I ordered on Black Friday at a very nice discount I checked a couple weeks back and I am still 4-6 weeks out before they arrive.
I bought all new top hats and grabbed some 3k mile take off springs (my truck has 80k miles) as well as all new mounting parts for the rears. Springs are being powder coated now as I wanted the springs color matched to to the truck.
My off road style is more Jeep trail lower speed stuff not the high speed stuff folks out West do.
TeraFlex is one of the best in the Jeep world so I am pretty sure the quality will continue.

But these 2 videos really put them over the top for me.

For what you plan on doing OP, not sure I would spend the coin on really high end suspension.

I am happy with Kings on purpose built rigs, and I would run some sort of roost guard.

Fox/ADS has top rated components and you will pay for that.

Well my truck arrived finally, just picked it up! Now I just need to make a decision on the suspension. I really appreciate all the advice here!

Icon, Elka or Ironman for the rear leaf pack that goes with.

If Falcon is able to use an aftermarket spring like the Eibach that would put them closer to a front runner though, anyone know if you can?

Black Friday Deal I paid $1275 for the adjustable Tow/Haul set.
I have 80k on my truck so I opted to buy new top hats, all new mounting hardware for the rear shocks, and take off springs with 3k miles. Having the springs powder coated to add a little color.
So I am probably right at $1500 like the standard price. But I don’t think there is another kit out there for $1500 that will touch the Falcons. It includes new rear bump stops and built in to the fronts, also all the hardware to extend the lines as needed in the rear.

Upper Control Arms are not needed with this kit. Though I will likely add them down the road and would have with any other options as well.

I also bought a diff drop, carrier bearing drop, front sway bar relocation brackets, and Coach Builder +1 shackles. Though I would have bought all these with any other kits so that was factored in over all costs but would have been with anything purchased.

I think anything more would be complete overkill for the type and frequency of off-roading I do as I would consider it only moderate. But most of my time is a daily driver.
I am a limited budget so the less I can spend for quality so I have more to spend elsewhere is always a positive.

I think it depends on what you are wanting the leafs for. Adding height not so much as the Falcons are not extended travel shocks so adding more lift than 1” is not advised.
If it is for having more load in the bed that is part of what the Tow/Haul adjustability is for so a new leaf pack would like not be necessary.

The Falcon certainly has limits if you want/need more than 1” of lift in the rear.

I want a touch of rake with as much lift as I can get up front without having to use UCAs.
Plus I just wanted the Coach Builders because they are a work of art honestly. So I went with the +1 which equates to just over a 1/2” of lift.

I'm basically doing the exact same set up. Falcon tow/haul w/ CB shackles

I went with the CB+2 because I am adding a Leer canopy to the truck so figured I'd sag ~.5" once that is in place

I've seen that anything >1" isn't recommended with the Falcon set up in the rear, however the Falcon rear shock measures 27.5" from the base of the bushing perch to the center of the lower bolt hole. I haven't measured the OE rear shock length but I saw/read somewhere (think it was on Tundras) it was 24.5" measured in the same spot. So my thoughts is it would be okay to have ~2" out back with the Falcons...I'm far from an expert though

"I also bought a diff drop, carrier bearing drop, front sway bar relocation brackets, and Coach Builder +1 shackles." Why do you need a diff drop bearing drop? The Falcon shocks were literally made to be bolt in. Not saying you shouldn't just curious why?

The 1” came from one of the Stage3 Motorsports videos on the kit though I believe the video was for the Tacoma kit.
I asked Falcon directly about running the +1 Coachbuilder and got the typical legal mumbo jumbo. We have only tested with the factory suspension so we can neither confirm nor deny they will work with the system.

Someone on here is running the Falcons with the +1 Coachbuilder with no issues.

Yup, that's the plan. I have a set of heavy duty spring compressors, but if it gets too sketchy I'll bring the coil overs to a shop so they can swap the top hats for me

Just waiting on wheels to show up and I'll have everything to install in one shot
