And, the headline where I stole it from said, "Full stock tundra actually does ok." Yea, in the Baja 500!
Gotta agree with ya, that truck looks BA.

    That truck is sick!!
My comment was that if u do dunes or track offroad then they might be fine. But if you rock crawl or go down some places I go then it's better to upgrade..
Just from the look tho that truck looks to have upgraded mods
I go to Langley, oklahoma pretty famous spot on the lake where they do trail racing and rock crawling. None of the parts on those trucks are factory. My dad also does drag boat racing on Lucas oil circuit so I get to see their stuff they put out and they don't use factory anything on theee trucks..

Yea, crawling, you'd need some mods. They claim that Baja Tundra is stock....IDK what their definition of stock is.... BTW, don't mind me, my truck isn't stock and I don't crawl.

Hattori, I am looking for 6" lift for my 2016 SR5 and I am really liking your suggestion on the CompPro K5069BMX kit. I also would like to install 35 x 12.5 tires on 20" wheels. In your experience, should I have enough clearance that there will be no tire rubbing at all?

A true 35 will still rub on there on the body mount. The cab chop doesn't affect the truck any along with some plastic trimming. This is due to more times than not the offset of the wheel. For example; a 20x9 with a 0 offset generally carries a 5 inch backspace. Most would put either a 295-60-20, 325-60-20, or a true 35-12.50-20. There are a few variations in that size tire. I'd expect some trimming but nothing crazy.

Thanks for that Dan. Glad you're enjoying that modded front bumper. I have another project or two I'm designing and possibly starting this weekend. I have always had trouble with not finishing one project before my mind starts designing the next. More details down the road. What's next on your rig ?

I agree with Brian and so many other folks on here that are running the Toytec kit. Keep that one on your short list. I do not want to sway you away from the other brands you are looking at, but really think twice about using a kit that has been tried and tested. Keep up the research, because it's a sight like this that gives real world advice and not a salesman pushing a product.

I feel the same way man. I have light bar brackets and led switches I have yet to wire in. I have pods that I want to mount as column pod on my hood. Had them for like 2 years and haven't put them on haha. As for next, I was looking into 20x9 bmf Novakanes wrapped with discovery pros and a 4 or 5 inch lift. I've been wheeling my truck pretty hard and figured out she needs a lift. Whats out options for intakes since we livexpect in commifornia? Would like a tuner .... hell, the list goes on. But next is definitely tires and a lift.

I agree, there is a ton of information here. I guess I should have disclosed upfront that I am completely new to putting lift into a truck and my mechanical knowledge doesn't go much beyond basic maintenance type skills. I would also like to thank you Hattori for the specific feedback. I haven't really set my mind to any particular lift setup. I just know that I really like the look of 35's (or something very close) and am just trying to figure out what lift would accommodate that tire size without rubbing. I do not know exactly what all is involved with cab chop, but I would prefer not to have to do any cutting if possible. I am just trying to learn all that I can to help make the right decision. I am open to any and all ideas. Thanks to all of you for the input.

@Spanky2017 There aren't many ways to avoid the trimming due to the offsets needed along with the backspacing that the larger knuckles require. You can scale down to something like a 295-60-20 but it will look disproportionate (but that's my opinion lol). The Tundra's gain ton of fender well gap in the 6 inch categories. And you might not like the side profile of that. Try looking at the 295-65-20 as that will get you some more height on the sidewall and still be considered a "very slightly narrow" 35. Remember that offsets and overall tire dimensions control everything when deciding what type of trim is going to be needed

@MotoTundra , thanks man! I see a lot of these builds and I strive to keep learning to help out guys looking to modify their Tundra's in which ever way they desire.

Not sure if anyone brought it up in this thread, but keep in mind that going to 35's or 37's for that matter really requires re-gear. I should not say "requires" with 35's, but highly advisable. Just another thing to factor in with the whole lift and tires costs.

I was originally looking at something in the area of 35's that were 10" wide. I decided to go up to 12.5" because I thought I would put on fender flares and at least wanted the outside of the tires to be flush with the outer edge of the flares. This question maybe dumb, but can I go with the 10" wide tire and put spacers behind it so that it sets out wider and gives me more clearance between the tire and the fender well? I looked at the Toytec lift kits and they look nice but are 3" lifts as high as they go? Again, I am open to all ideas.

Thanks Lenny. And yes, I already have plans to go to 4.88. But I do have another question.....at what height in terms of lift would I need to address the change in angle of my driveline?

You won't find a 35" in 10" wide. 285/75R-18 is basically a 35" x 11.50 You can do a narrower tire and spacers, but why not new wheels and a 35x12.50 ? If staying with OEM wheels, then yes spacers would work for you. Keep in mind you will need the cab-mount-chop, but 80% of guys on here have done it. Don't be scared. Hope this helps.......

If 4WD, than a diff drop is cheap and easy insurance for anything 2-1/2" and greater. $30.00 for a diff drop kit.
